July 13, 201015 yr Here's what I do and it works every time, and hopefully for you:1.In the FSX Addon Scenery folder, create a new folder (right click on white area of page , scroll down to 'New' , choose folder) and type in the four letter airport identifier.2. Download the new scenery file to that folder.3. Now open it and create another folder within it called 'scenery'4. Copy and paste the .bgl files that came with the addon to the newly created scenery file.5.Open Microsoft Flight Simulator X . 6. Click on Settings, Scenery Library, Add Area, and finally Addon Scenery7. Find scenery to be installed and open it with a couple of left clicks. The scenery file will appear.8. Left click on 'OK', then right click on the white area. The page should close back to the Settings-Scenery Library page.9. The name of the new scenery file should appear at the top of the list. Click OK and watch the file install.Good luck.Jack
July 13, 201015 yr Can any one assist please? I've been trying to install the Paphos and the Grantley Adams airport sceneries into my FSX Addon Scenery. Now,I've never had issues with installing add-on sceneries in FS9,but for some reason despite putting the separately named add-on scenery folders containing both scenery and texture sub-folders into the FSX Addon Scenery folder, when I come to doing the add scenery in FSX via the scenery library,it just does not seem to want to do it.Or if does, then I cannot see the newly-added airports when I load my aircraft at what I think should be the newly-installed airport add-ons.I still seem to see the default airports, and checking the scenery.cfg file does not show the new add-ons.So,what is it that am I doing wrong?Basic question: What Operating System are you using? If Win 7, there is a known "bug" which makes adding scenery a bit more difficult than we are used to. This link shows how it is done (with pictures):http://forums.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?t=205432Also the scenery.cfg which FSX use to write data to is not the scenery.cfg found in the Flight Simulator 9 folder - that one is a backup which contains only the required default items.I am not running Win 7 - I am still using XP, and my scenery.cfg file (which FSX uses) is located here:C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\FSXMore info regarding what you are running would be helpful.
July 13, 201015 yr Author Just a guess, but have you tried playing with the empty scenery cache on exit tick box, to get FSX to 'wake up'?AlThanks Al.Tried both options. All I get is 'No items found to match your search' when I click on the individual airport scenery sub-folder'.Jack,I have also created a totally separate folder named after the airport I want to add,i.e.Paphos,or Grantley Adams, and within that I also create sub-folders called scenery and texture and drop the relevant files,i.e.*.bgl into the scenery sub-folder,and so on.Also done everything that you have listed, yet still do not see the airport as per what it should in effect look from the downloaded airport images. The Scenery Library lists all the airports, including the Aerosoft London Heathrow and UK Scenery Manchester, which tells me that I have installed those correctly, but when I try to add the Paphos and Grantley Adams airports,FSX does not seem to want to know.Running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with 12Gb of RAM+3.6Ghz o/c'd CPU.Nevertheless, thanks for the heads-up guys. Will try the last suggestion re:Windows 7 inherent bug Rick Almeida
