RealAir Duke - 2 Issues

Featured Replies

I've encountered two issues with this excellent aircraft that I can't find answers to in this forum, in the supplied documentation or on the RealAir site, hopefully someone can help.1. Flying in icing conditions the air speed indicators stop working (drop to zero) after a few minutes as if the pitot tube is icing up, but I've got the heat switches for the pitot tubes 'on'. Is there something else I need to do to activate the heat?2. I've added an extra re-paint which shows up no problem but if I go into the Duke Config Panel and make and save any change the aircraft.cfg file gets reverted to the original thus loosing the re-paint I've added. Is there any way to prevent this happening?Andy L

Hi,To fix speed indicator problem just change the following part in the aircraft cfg. Make sure to make a back up of the original aircraft cfg first, then copy and paste thisafter erasing the electrical part in the original aircraft cfg:[electrical]//BusType, MaxAmpLoad, MinVoltage//BusTypes:0=MainBus,1=AvionicsBus,2=BatteryBus,3=HotBatteryBus,4-7=Generator/AlternatorBus(1-4)max_battery_voltage = 24.0generator_alternator_voltage = 24.0max_generator_alternator_amps = 60.0engine_generator_map = 1,1avionics_bus=2, 5, 12avionics=1, 5, 12starter1=0, 5, 1starter2=0, 5, 1flap_motor=0, 0, 1gear_motor=0, 0, 1autopilot=0, 0, 1pitot_heat=0, 5, 12additional_system=0, 0, 1marker_beacon=0, 0, 1fuel_pump=0, 0, 1gear_warning=5, 5, 1light_nav=0, 5, 1light_beacon=0, 5, 1light_landing=0, 5, 1light_taxi=0, 5, 1light_strobe=0, 0, 1light_panel=0, 5, 24light_recognition=0, 5, 1light_cockpit=0, 5, 24Hope it will helpBest regardsLmaire

Many thanks for that tip, it's fixed the pitot heat problem for me!As a matter of interest I see that you also have changed the initial 4s and 5s in the light_* entries to 0s as you did for the pitot_heat, what difference does it make to the operation of the lights please?Do you know if RealAir are aware of the problem with the pitot heat and that the fix is as you describe? Thanks again,Andy L

I have seen comments from Rob with regard to the pitot heat fix - so they are definately aware of it and have never posted an alternative fix .. .. That certainly seems to work with no added side effects !!G

I've just emailed Rob about both issues and drew his attention to this thread. Hopefully they might put something on their site about it and of course issue a patch in due course.I've also just seen a suggestion elsewhere that only changing the last figure on the pitot_heat line from 24 to 12 will also work but I've not yet tried it.Andy L

That is the only bit that you need to do to fix the problem .. ..G

I 've received this correction from Real Air. Sorry but i've never noticed the change about the light. I've just asked Rob if it could fix the pitot heater and he's sent methis new config.Lmaire

FWIW, I have flown a very few payware aircraft that have a line near the top of the cfg file that says something like "Allow changes to this file_0" Changing the "0" to 1 will allow changes to be made. If the line already reads "1", try changing it to "0". As always, back up the cfg file before making any changes.

Unfortunately the Duke .cfg doesn't have a line like that. I might try putting one in and see what happens but I suspect it's not going to stop the Config Panel doing what it's programmed to do.I've already had a reply from Rob, excellent service over the weekend!, and he sent me the same new [electrical] section as has already been posted. He's also aware of the issue with the Config Panel 'correcting' the .cfg file, which of course puts the [electrical] section back to the original problematic version as well! Many thanks to all that have replied and solved the problem for me.Andy L
