TM Sperrry 177 Autopilot Released - BUT

Featured Replies

The Sperry 177 AP is now availbale on AVSIM. I have installed it BUT when the AP is engaged with ALT/VS selected the trim wheel sound is on all the time. Question, what have I done wrong or is there a bug?CheersKeith B

You've just missed something, that's all.The readme explains that you need to replace the original trim sound with a new (blank) file because of the difference in operational logic of the two autopilot gauges; both files are supplied in the zip.;)

I just tested the packs that I've uploaded for consistency, and both (AVSIM and the other site) have the correct sound files included. Open the .zip file play both sounds. The "copy of" file is simply a backup file and will play the short trim sound (you don't REALLY need this file, I included it in the event that you wish to return to Sperry 77 A/P at a later date and wish to restore the old trim sound). The "rp732_trim_short.wav" is a blank file, and if copied to your FS9/Aircraft/fsfsconv/panel.B732ADV folder should overwrite the existing trim file with the blank file. You will no longer hear non-stop short trim, but will occasionally hear the trim activate through different phases of flight (especially in awful weather). Remember, the Sperry 77 was driven by the pilot through manipulations of the flight controls. Every A/P since the Sperry 77, CAN manipulate the main control surfaces, but often makes minor adjustments in attitude through inputs in the trim.First make sure that both sound files are different (as I just verified personally and with a friend out-of-state). Secondly, try copying these two files from the ZIP to you FS9/Aircraft/fsfsconv/panel.B732ADV directory making sure that you DO overwrite the old file.Restart FS and reload your plane--all should be working fine.

I have re-installed the panel and all appears to be OK. I can't see what was different from the first attempt, but there you go.Another question, is it possible to open all the doors without the stairs? I use AES so at most of the airports I use there are functioning gates etc. Thanks for the help.Best regardsKeith B.

Glad it's working for you! Don't forget to apply the refresh rate fix to the gauge file: If you add this to the XML gauge: <Update Frequency="6"/> it smooths out the gauge when selecting variations of speed, pitch, heading, altitude, etc.As for the doors, that's hard-coded in to the TMII model. Airstairs deploy anytime the remaining doors are opened. You can look in to applying the TMII panel to the Kittyhawk 732, but it's not as seamless flight-wise.

Hello, Just want to express my gratitude to you for uploading this panel mod. It's really simplified the workload (now that we have a functional Vertical Speed mode). Flying this bird just became more fun( for me at least). Thanks againJ.C. (MYNN)

Thanks, I think I will leave the doors alone. I would though like to apply the the refresh rate fix. Question where in the XML gauge file does the line go?Best wishesKeith B.

You can put it almost anywhere, but I put it in the third line as follows:<Gauge Name="737-300 MCP" Version="1.01"> <Copyright>Copyright 2004 Paul Scarratt</Copyright><Update Frequency="6"/>

I'm pleased you enjoy it.Items I am planning to incorporate in v2 are:--Gauge smoothness fix--Implementation of course mod bug--Reduction in default 2500 fpm rate--Possible night lit gauge (panel match)--Implementation of SP177 flight director--Selectable Sperry 77 vs 177 "in sim"

Like the sound of all of these enhancements. Another question, is there a TO/GA button, or have I missed it?Looking forward to v2.RegardsKeith B.

Nice work, MrSkyGuy! Thank You! And just a quick note for anyone else who may have the GoFlight MCP Pro - it works with this mod when you leave the GF config MCP set to "FS Default". I'm looking forward to your version 2 as well!

Not yet.. I need to research the FS9 logic for a TOGA button. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thank you! I'll be sure to include that portion in the next release's README.
