Do you mean the MSFS built-in video facility? If so, you should be aware that it is not actually a true video recording, but rather a recording of various parameters which FS9 or FSX then uses to re-create your flight. Not all parameters are recorded, and complex add-ons tend to suffer a lot more than default aircraft. The results often look very strange. There is a file available in the AVSIM library (sorry I cannot remember what it is called) which adds a lot more parameters to the recording, but it is unlikely to completely solve your issue. You might be better off trying FRAPS. That captures the screen just as you see it, and creates a true video which you can play back in WMP or any of the usual media players, or post on YouTube etc.

As u can see i already use fraps to make fsx videos..but certainly i cant fly using the wing view!! I just wanted to know whether it is normal for such a phenomenon to occur or not?? Anyways thanks for the replies!!Regards,Shivang Jha

Not sure how someone is to see you're using Fraps since none of your posts mention that and it is important info to volunteer when asking a video question. This shouldn't matter too much, but are you using FS9 or FSX? The reason I ask is because the directX window might be a problem with FSX if you're running in windowed mode and you're not running at your monitors native resolution also. The abnormality of gear, flaps etc (animations) not working is normal. Although not a pleasant normal, you can be rest assured we all have the same issue and it isn't anything you're doing wrong or anything. There are ways around this. What I do is 1st record in FS-Recorder, then during playback I start recording with Fraps. This will not stop the issue of the animations not working, but will allow you to then switch views as you desire. The limitation/problem with animations work around is to reset each at that specific point in your flight. So you would set the gear and Flaps as you are recording the playback with from FSRecorder and recording with Fraps. The playback and recording method this way is great, but time consuming. It allows for some great shots, and allows you to rewind and record multiple views of the same time to get your point accross.I made
a while back, and it is focused on all of the animations during landing.Oh and one last thing. Make sure you check your Fraps settings and also make sure you do not start recording while FS is loading. Any disruption in the directX window while recording with Fraps will make the rest of the video,,, video-less (Black). As for the "initialization" happening again after hitting escape I have no idea. Sounds like either a bad install or a memory issue. Fraps or any video recording is a huge chore on the computer. Recording with FSRecorder 1st may also help lighten the load for better resultss. Also, Don't record while it is initializing.Hope this helps!

Thanks...so basically what you are trying to say is that if i use FSRECORDER to record the vids...then i will stop getting the animation problems? I use fsx btwRegardsShivang Jha

What I do is just set whatever I need set at my current point... e.x. I landed and wanted to take a screen shot of my landing... Well my flaps were not down and my lights weren't on... Because I was parked at the gate and had turned it all off... All you have to do is go back to "live" mode then extend your flaps and turn your lights off and when you go back to your replay your current panel state will be applied to the replay... Hope it helps
