  1. Might be time to create a new 2024 forum and move all discussion there.
  2. Well I do have to laugh at the strong views both ways here. Word Not Allowed always seemed like a great guy to me but it isn't like he has been banished from the Matriarch of Flight Simming... He got kicked out of one forum, the internets is a great big place... His blog got free exposure, which I had no clue existed before this article... It happens move on or move out.
  3. I have enough room for both sims on my HD The problem with XP is the guy at the top. Until he realizes that his sim isn't perfect it will never have a chance to become perfect.
  4. Sorry in my head I was really expanding on this post, but the 99% comment made me think of how nice it would be for 99% of the airports to have at least generic buildings... I would take a trailer park in place of what we have... Agreed I think we are moving in the right direction for sure. The engine itself is working much better... I for one never had a problem with the default landclass, but I am also not a real pilot and never fly VFR in the sim, and if I do I fly in places where the physical topology is your visual aide.
  5. I will load it back up once somebody puts together a North American Airport pack from the best of user generated airport scenery, I only fly using Air Hauler, so it will send you to airports that you can't possibly foresee installing scenery for. I really don't want to have to search every time I have to fly to a new airport, and I just can not deal with 0 scenery at 99.9231% of airports.
  6. I haven't loaded up in about 3 months... Am I the only one that has trouble generating flight plans? I know it wasn't the best but FSX's "I want to start here and land over there, tell me what my route choices are." Was very helpful... And stupid simple.
  7. Was about to post but realized how far OT this thread has gotten... Yes jets were planned at some point... And no some of those achievements are impossible to get without cheating
  8. I really don't want to put words in his mouth but I can't see why he would even bring up NDA if there wasn't in deed SOMETHING in the works, or at least being discussed. Thanks for posting Tom
  9. I am going to need to see a peer reviewed paper before I call it scientific ;)
  10. I have noticed in general the full screen mode just doesn't work right, I get a ridiculously better experience playing in a 1920x1080 window than in full screen mode.
  11. I think it was a more, we are looking into it...
  12. Yea I thought I could skimp by on 20 as well, but my dissatisfaction and ultimate removal of AI occurred when I loaded up a flight at PAJN (Juneau, Alaska). I had no flight plan I just wanted to fly around... First off about 8 planes "spawned" right on top of me because there was nowhere else on the airport for them to start, second there was about a 1500 ft icing ceiling that I had to VFR under and I was just doing my thing next thing I know, this 747 comes from absolutely nowhere and buzzes about 500 ft in front of me at about 1200ft, like 20 miles from the airport... I later learned that the default aircraft I guess somehow follow you, or your flightplan.... All I know is I turned xplane off for about 2 weeks after that, and next time I loaded it up I turned off all AI. But those were great links you added, definitely will keep my ear out on that.
  13. It is really the only thing holding me back from 100% satisfaction as well, plus proper AI usually comes with proper airliner parking at most airports. Personally I always thought Buckhard should've always charged more for mytraffic in fsx, I mean you have airplane paints, gate parking at every single airport that I came across, and then the code to get it to work, which I imagine was the easy part in FSX. I assume that the other titles in FSX worked mostly the same though.
  14. Found a good post on this a little while ago http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/53375-x-plane-ai-traffic/
  15. No of course not, but we shouldn't treat everyone as potential child molesters either! Should the government start doing random door to door harddrive inspections? I mean it is worth it as long as we get child molesters off the street right? That is the point he is making, no we shouldn't allow that kind of stuff but at the same time how many rights are you willing to give up to make sure child pornography is non-existent... (Freely insert pirating, or any other unethical activity for child pornography)
  16. I am dying waiting to see what they do with Alaska... I really hope that they nail a vast majority of the state. It could really help me get my mind off of heavies for a while that is for sure
  17. I just upgraded my CPU and MB this last week, and when I turned it back on P3D no longer recognized my setup... Same thing emailed them about 7pm Thursday night and before I even got to work the next morning I had an email letting me know it had been reset. I wouldn't mind hardcore copy protection like this industry wide, if every company had as great customer service.
  18. I think Ezdok has a .cfg file with all of the default zoom's as well, I can't remember which folder it was in (I am at work now). But I would assume you can just go in and type it in as well... I had stumbled on it doing something else completely, so it does stand out... I want to say I saw it in the gauges config file for each aircraft as a new window definition.
  19. Ohhh yea... but it may just be a bad batch... I did some intense reading for the last 15 minutes and came across this; http://www.gskill.us/forum/showthread.php?p=52819 6. Yes, for example RipJaws for Intel first gen P55, H55, etc. RipJaws X for second gen P67,Z68, etc. RipJaws Z for latest X79. This does not mean they are not compatible with other CPUs/mobos, it just means they have the specific XMP/profiles for the specific platform. 7. Basically same as above, it is what our QVL reflects. I suppose answers for 6 and 7 are reversed/ vice versa. 8. Chipset is what we target, then if we are able to work with certain mobo companies, then we can make sure the mobo/BIOS combination is perfect. Commonly, we purchase relevant motherboards to test and pass information on to manufacturer if necessary. This is how we solve memory compatibility issues with certain motherboards/BIOS. So it looks like I stand corrected.... I just can't believe that I could have gone for so long with a bad stick of ram in my old mobo and never seen any hint of a problem... In my experience you can usually see a ram issue a mile away, or at least a "ohhh that's why it was doing that one thing" moment when you find out you had a bad stick. Yea I narrowed it down to one stick, but I had always known about the QML and QVL's and thought it was the only logical explanation... But you learn something new everyday
  20. Kind of hard to adjust your timings when the computer doesn't even boot
  21. I hate to shout but when you buy your new motherboard CHECK THE MANUFACTURERS WEBSITE FOR SUPPORTED RAM!!! I don't just mean DDR3 and triple channel / quad channel but the manufacturer of the ram really matters. I have done this 2 times now, and got burned you would think I would learn, but you get so damn giddy hovering over the checkout button, just to put your system together and then it doesn't boot. Luckily this last time it was old DDR3 ram from my last board so I didn't order the wrong thing, but the x79 version of the Extreme6 doesn't support OCZ ram at all. Especially anyone going to the x79 platform the quad channel ram is super finicky, ensure that it is supported on both the ram website, and the mobo website.
  22. Yea the Ivy bridge doesn't look as good as we all had hoped... http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ivy-bridge-benchmark-core-i7-3770k,3181.html I cannot believe they even bothered with trying to improve the on-board graphics, but I guess that is the way of the future smaller and handheld. I am guessing in a year or two that they will start developing the high end Ivy's just like they did with the Sandy's.
  23. Yea I had the same problem and used FSUIPC as well for all of my axis controls
  24. I don't need a source to see that coming... I wouldn't be surprised if Alaska is broken up into "zones" and you can't actually fly from one end to the other.
  25. I think that is the ultimate reason they don't want a consumerism attitude in their market... Which is fine by me... the code was never getting worked on by MS so at least I know sometime in the future issues will get addressed.
