Anti Piracy Measure

Recommended Posts

the UK High Court has ordered ISPs to prevent their customers connecting to The Pirate Bay. It's another step in the right direction even though it may not be 100% effective.

Same thinking. Piracy is bad, but there are things called freedom and privacy.

It's finding the sweet spot in the middle that's the hardest part!

Thieves deserve privacy now , Wow

No wonder society is in such a mess.

How is this to simply stop them from going elsewhere, than Pirate Bay?

They can play whack-a-mole all they want but there are far more people pirating the stuff than fighting piracy...

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

They don't deserve privacy, but unless you can think of a way to let everyone else keep their privacy while outing the users of TPB, please let the governments of the world know so we aren't all screwed in the coming years.

And don't say IP Addresses, because when Grandma gets busted for her grandchild downloading a music album, it doesn't work.

Nor those who accidentally or just because they honestly don;t know, their Wi-Fi is unprotected.

Or someone hacks their password...

Don't put words in my mouth, because I could do the same.

The world is becoming more and more controlled place, governments virtually forcing things on us. Somewhere less, somewhere more. I am against that. It intrudes my privacy and my freedom to do whatever I desire, because that is my human right. Not talking about what's morally and ethically right (that relies upon my sole decision).

And they are going to, by doing that, only make things worse. As someone else before said: there are more pirates and will always be, than people fighting it. There is no way to prevent it.

I'm not sure that sarcastic statement is worth responding to. In any case, if I want to look at the Piratebay, I have a right to do so. I have an ethical decision to make rather or not I'll download illegal "warez".

Think about it this way: If the government can block citizens from ThePirateBay because it has illegal files on it, what else can they block and why? How far will it go, and at what point will a citizens' rights not be trampled? This is much more sophisticated than you give credit for, and our rights on the largest social medium are being pressed on. No, I say ThePirateBay should be shut down by local law enforcement. If not that, than charge those who download illegally. Governmental censoring of sites goes against every grain of the UK/US/etc's constitutions. A scary information age we live in...

Do you also have a right to look at child pornography sites and then make an ethical decision whether to down load or not?

And don't claim thery are different. They are not. In both cases the sites encourage committing what are criminal offences in civilised countries.

While I personally dont believe that sites that promote or contain anything illegal should be allowed to continue, I do not agree with any government actively restricting access to the internet. The US government is still trying to force various bills through congress with relation to the Protect IP act and SOPA..

It should be our choice what we choose to view or not as once they start to block one website, it becomes a slippery slope from there..

Just my 2 cents.. :)

So we should have the choice to view child pornography?

You make a good point. But then comparing child pornography to copyright infringement is ludicrous.
