Ok, the only thing that kept me from dumping my AMD CPU and mobo seems to be gone. Looks like bulldozer will only be AM3 ready for 8xx chipset boards. I just ordered a I3 530 + P55 board for some 250€ If it turns out beeing an upgrade as I expect, I will be selling my 1090T and mobo for pretty much that much (hopefully) I'll post what I see, no matter if it's good or bad

You do realise your going from 6 to 2 cores. The 1090T performs the same as an OCd i7 930, I think you just wasted your money.

I went with amd, bought 3 different GPUs (tested 5: 5770, GTX 260, GTX 285, GTX 264 and GTX 460), two different processors...yes I've wasted tones of money but I aim to find out what's the best option for FSX, that's itand I'm not going to 4 cores, I'm going to 2! hehehe

When did I say you were going to 4 cores.?

didn't you edit that? I went back from the other thread and replied to this one later.anyway, my bad, yes it's 2 cores, and yes, I think that's enough to run FSX

oh, and my cpu is slower than any I7 clock for clock. see? I can take it if I make a mistake

Well today I decided to do some more tests with 2 cores, and the PMDG 744with the JS41 I could see no difference but things changed with th 744: frames dropped from 30 to 24 FPS, so even though the 530 is probably an ok budget option, I don't think it will be that great and decided to go with a I5 750 insteadChris, feel free to rub it in now haha

I'm not going to rub it in. Trial and error is a major part of learning, unfortunately you learnt the hard way (that envolves money).

I managed to change the order and they replaced CPU (for an extra 75€ of course)but I still have an AM3 mobo, a 1090TCPU and a GTX260 or (maybe the 460) that I need to selleven If I can get 300€ from that, I estimate I have still wasted some 200-250€

It's unlucky. I would keep the 460 and sell 260. The mobo and CPU will sell for a bit a a pair, and fairly new.

yes I will probably sell the 260. The 460 can run a bit more AA

I know I'm such a pest, but I just realised my last tests, the ones showing an impact on frame rates with two cores, were not properly done, so my initial statemet still standsI set my affinity mask to 15 (cores 0 to 3) in my FSX.CFG and then disabled cores 2 to 5 using the task manager. FSX was trying to use 2 cores (2 & 3) that it simply couldn't. With an affinitymask of 3 in the fsx.cfg and no change in task manager affinity, there seems to be no performance hit whatsoeverI will be testing my new I5 750 next week, but would very much appreciate the input of anyone willing to test this too

Ok, my tests in heathrow (taxi to take off), GEX, UTX, REX2, at the VC of the PMDG JS41, 75% My Traffic 5.3 pro, all sliders maxed except for autogen (normal) and water (2xLow) :average frames with RAM @ 1600GHz :4 cores: 18.2052 cores: 18.060RAM @ 1200GHz and 2 cores: 18.208That's a 4GHz I5 750. The more I test things the more I wish I had not changed my order. I'm pretty sure an I3 @ 4.3- 4.4 would perform betterAbout memory speed, same results I got with my AMD setups: no difference
