August 9, 201015 yr Once I land, and reverse props, the spoilers aren't deploying. Before anyone asks, yes I have the spoilers switch turned on. Anyone else having this issue. :( John Kirkendoll
August 9, 201015 yr There is some issue with spoilers, although I have no problems with them, but here is the thread and some info.Edit:Ups, sorry it's about spoilers not retracting, not not deploying...!!!
August 10, 201015 yr John,Have you installed SP1? Best Regards, Kurt "Yoda" Kalbfleisch Pinner, Middx, UK Beta tester for PMDG J41, NGX, and GFO, Flight1 Super King Air B200, Flight1 Cessna Citation Mustang, Flight1 Cessna 182, Flight1 Cessna 177B, Aeroworx B200
August 10, 201015 yr Author John,Have you installed SP1?Kurt, It's a brand new downloaded aircraft and it comes with SP1 already. The thing about it is, it has worked before, but the last three flights haven't resulted in the spoilers activating on reverse. :( John Kirkendoll
August 10, 201015 yr John,Okay...that helps! If you're using a controller for your throttle, try recalibrating it. It's possible that things have changed just enough that when you pull the power into reverse, it's not going far enough to get the spoilers to come up. August 10, 201015 yr And one more thing (I've checked it few minutes ago), if You land with IAS much below VRef then spoilers won't deploy.
August 10, 201015 yr Author And one more thing (I've checked it few minutes ago), if You land with IAS much below VRef then spoilers won't deploy. That could be the answer, because looking back on my pireps, I have been landing below my Vref, and I just did another flight, and the spoilers did activate, because I was just below vref. Thanks guys. Kurt, I'll recalibrate just in case. :( John Kirkendoll
August 11, 201015 yr And one more thing (I've checked it few minutes ago), if You land with IAS much below VRef then spoilers won't deploy.Presumably, this is because the flight management system "decides" that spoilers aren't required if your landing speed is relatively low? August 11, 201015 yr Probably thats what AOM says, I don't remember, I always land with correct speed (that's what Speed Cars are for) and my spoilers always deploy. Nevertheless I did read the whole AOM, I didn't even try to memorize it in whole :)
August 12, 201015 yr I would be surprised if you actually touched down at exactly the same speed every time (for a given weight). I assume you mean that your approach speed is correct every time? August 12, 201015 yr Hi Christopher, I mean what I said. I always land with correct speed, "correct" is not equal to "exactly the same every time".Cheers
August 14, 201015 yr OK, I will rephrase that....It is virtually impossible to touch down at the "correct" speed every time. Even real world pilots can't manage that. They may be close, but I have seen enough airliners land at major airports to know that some touch down quite hard and early, whereas others seem to hang in the air for quite some time before making contact with the ground. IMO, that's because they have misjudged the flare, or a sudden gust of wind has altered the parameters. August 14, 201015 yr Hi again, fortunately it's only a video game not real world. I see that You equal the therm "correct" used by me to some exact number, well maybe it's part of some real world pilot knowledge, which I'm not. What I mean by "correct speed" is the speed that comply to all conditions present during the landing. I pay big attention to maintain VTarget till 200' above TDZE (which is very easy in APP mode, a little harder in manual landing which I prefer), from this point I focus on getting my aircraft to TDZ of the runway as precisely as it's possible, in most cases You can set power to idle and the aircraft will touch the ground only few knots below VRef or even at this speed, and this is what I call "correct speed", it's very easy to achieve in simulation like FSX and small aircraft like Jetstream4100.I think it explains everything, please remember that as I'm not native English speaker, I have no ability to be as precise as You probably wish, and please don't mislead my straight language with being rude, as it's not my intention, even if it sometimes seem so.Cheers.
August 14, 201015 yr No problem, mate. I shouldn't have made an issue out of it, so please accept my apologies. Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester
August 14, 201015 yr Hey, there's no need to apology for anything, I could explain it precisely in the beginning when You asked for it! Cheers.
