No difference from GTX 460 1024 from 8800GT 512

I picked up this new car to go along with my i7, and there is no difference in anything. It almost seems like I lost some frames. Any ideas? 258.96 drivers.

List your PC spec's in your siggy like mine, what flightsim are you using(I'll assume FSX), what were you average FPS before the 460. A GPU is not the magic solution to better frames, it depends on many things, ie your hardware, tweaks, fsx settings.

My frames were mid 20s-mid30s around busy areas with pretty much everything maxed out except for traffic with REX, GEX, UTX, and LVLD 767. I just flew KDEN-KAPA and it was dipping into the low teens with the new card with some ground blurries.

Have you rebuilt a new CFG file? If not rename your old one so after you let FSX generate a new one you can copy/paste your tweeks back in.

Hmmm I use pretty much the same addon's and settings (pretty much everything maxed out except traffic and road vehicles) when you installed your new card did you uninstall the old drivers first? Have you updated your new 460 to the current drivers? and one more thing in your fsx cfg file there is an entry for your display device it will look like this [DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480.0]has yours changed from the 8800 to your new 460? if not am I'm really not sure if this entry matters you can delete your fsx cfg file and when you start fsx again it rebuilds a new one for you, it should then show the correct entry. Also not sure if your new to this forum or not but there are many many tweaks that can improve performance, like the Bufferpools=0 tweak

I agree with the 1st post! Not much difference! Frame rate are pretty much the same.I did everything you said uninstall and re install the new driver and build a new FSX.CFG

Early this year I upgraded from a 8800gts 512 to a gtx 275. I got no major increase in FPS, but did get a noticable jump in the level of AA and AF filtering that I could apply without major FPS hits, and this did significantly improve the image quality. This guide is highly recommended if you've not seen it yet, especially the section on using Nhancer: http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=29041&title=setting-up-fsx-and-how-to-tune-it. Enjoy.

Replacing my 8800GT 512 MB with a GTX460 1024MB (both cards factory overclocked) gave me a similar experience. Not much change to FPS, but higher AA settings possible without any hits and less time spent waiting for textures to load.I wasn't expecting much change to FSX (I got the card for Starcraft II), but I am very pleased with the the improvements to the sim.
