FSX Acceleration

Featured Replies

Hello!I've FSX Deluxe installed and want to purchase/install Acceleration (primarily because some add-on payware aircraft require it). Doing some browsing around, it's cheaper to buy FSX Gold edition than trying to buy a new copy of just Acceleration. My question is if I buy the Gold edition, can I just install Acceleration from the Gold discs on top of my current Deluxe install? Or am I looking at a complete re-install of everything FSX on my machine?Thanks!-Dan

Probably best to be safe and start from scratch and completely wipe out your existing install. Just don't make the mistake of trying to make copies of the folders of addons and then when you install the new sim, copying the folders back to FSX. That's usually a recipe for disaster since a lot of addons need a proper registry entry. Best to reinstall everything from scratch and be safe as much of a pain as it maybe.

That's pretty much what I feared. I just spent 2 full days reinstalling everything before I realized I needed Acceleration. Oh well... guess I'll buy Gold and just wait until the next time I do a full reinstall.Thanks!-Dan

FSX Gold consists of two disks. One is the Deluxe version, and the other disk is Acceleration. If you already have Deluxe FSX installed, then you just install the Acceleration disk. That's what I did and it worked great.
