Graphic card burnt out

Featured Replies

Looks like my nVidia 9800GX2 card has burnt out. If so, I'm going to have to buy a new one, which begs the question; which? My System:Q6600 Quad core 2.4 O/C to 3.22G ramASUS P5K SE motherboardUsing FS2004 (with a little interest in FSX)Looking at:ATI XFX 5970nVidia GTX 480with the cheap option being the ATI 5770.From what I've seen the XFX 5970 is the winner, based on todays games. But obviously FS2004 is a different animal. I believe my power supply will be powerful enough for either (the 9800 GX2 was a pig).Anyone with any advice? Greatly appreciated...- daniel

HelloWell if my GTX260 died tommorow, then the only choice for me would be the GTX460 1gb.For FS9 or FSX considering price vs performance this card is the best choice in my opinion.

I concur! Inspite my initial problems that were, as I found out, due to new RAM I also installed - see the post with "driver stuck in infinite loop" - I am more than happy with a Gainward GTX 460 1Gb. For the price you get a lot and this card leaves my trusty old 9800GT in the dust. Highly recommended! In fact, anything more powerful would probably be an overkill for FS9. :smile:Regards,Jure

Can you SLI two 460's and run the nvidia surround? Jim V

Thanks to all...I'm not totally tied to price; I don't mind spending to the ceiling if I'm going to be happy with the card for a long time. My 9800GX2 was a great card until it died, always performed reasonably well. Having said that I'm a little off buying new nVidia cards, just because of the driver complications (having to use an older version for lack of AA). The GPUx2 idea has always appealed to me, although I realize it has never been totally taken advantage of in games like FS2004.I'm leaning towards the ATI Radeon XFX 5970. I realize it may be overkill for FS2004, but that's not to say it won't work well. I'd like to have something that'll work well for other games too, even if I play them rarely.I wonder if anyone can tell me about any ATI driver issues with FS2004? Or issues with newer ATI cards at all?- daniel
