PMDG 737-600/700

Featured Replies

I recently purchased the PMDG 737-6/700 for FS9---and all of my problems began. I see that a version of FSUIPC comes with the download; does this version need to be updated? Is it better to purchase a stand-alone version of FSUIPC? Is it safe to use any of the free registration keys, and if so does it help performance? When the game loads the monitor goes black for several seconds, and it appears that it opens twice with a quick glimpse of two menu bars overlapped...then in moves into the set-up screen. Occasionally, after I load my plane and flight plan information and I hit, “fly-now” the game will open with the lower right corner of the frame tiled in the upper right hand corner of the screen. It often happens after I use any of the option keys as well. The PMDG graphics have trouble loading going from view-to-view i.e. the VC and outer liveries of the plane take a few seconds to fill-in. Also, whether I have the FR settings at 10 or unlimited once I start the game the FR works fine, but if I change to the outside view more than once, the FR looks, “choppy”. I have tweaked the FS setting for optimum performance. My drivers are up-to-date and my operating system and game card far exceed the minimums. I have all the current FS9 service patches---so I am at my wits end. The only negative I am reading in the forums, arguably, is that the OS is Vista 32-bit. On the other hand, folks are reporting that they are using Vista just fine. Oh, and I am computer an admitted computer illiterate! Any help and/or suggestions so that I can achieve what I am looking for---fun with FS9. John E. DeAngelisFort Worth, Texas

Hi John, There is a section for the FS9 737 where you might have better luck posting this. It may get more attention.http://forum.avsim.net/forum/354-pmdg-737-ng/Sorry I can't help, but I don't own it personally.

Sometimes, new  drivers can actually cause a system to run slower than it did previously. This is due to newer drivers no longer supporting features from older DX versions. You do not state what GPU you are using or any other PC specs. FS will play weird (or seem to) once you start loading hundreds of AI aircraft into the game. It will take forever to load (or seem to). Do you have any AI aircraft loaded into the sim? What about add-on sceneries? Do you have the same problems when running a barebones install of FS9 and just the 737NG? How is the performance when in such a state?

Hi Welcome.I have used the 600/700 without any problems on Vista. When downloading did you have your anti-virus running? This can sometimes prevent the complete download being installed. My starting point would be to redownload and reinstall.Norman Bowman

You probably do not have the most recent version of FSUIPC installed now at 3.98 release version for FS9. For the PMDG itself you do not have to use the paid version, but the fully user registered version adds some weather, control mapping and sensitivity fixing, and other features you might wish to consider. The zip file now includes a self-installer exe version that will need to be run as an admin under Vista and Win 7. It will get the path to FS from your registry and if not correct you can change that path. The new installer will overwrite your current version in your modules folder and create a documentation folder under that. The User guide will explain the difference between application registered and user full use registered facilities. Here is the download location:http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html

Ok, folks---thanks so much for all of the qucik replies, it is greatly appreicated. I will post CPU info to see if y'all can help further as soon as I can, but I have been dealing with an aggressive trojan virus for the last few days, so the CPU may be changing if I can't get it fixed. Stay tuned!

If you know the name of the trojan you can look it up either at Symmantec or McAffee (Computer Associates) to see if it is in their database and how to remove it manually. Sometimes it takes a combination suite of protection applications to protect it, that is an antivirus plus a spyware product combination of security.Try this before reformatting. If you know the file name you might have to be in safe command mode to delete it.

Again, thanks for all of the replies---and thanks to the tech folks from, McAfee (free plug), all of the virus is gone. My computer is actually operating better after the virus repair, as they found older corrupted files and repaired them, too. Here are my specs.Processor: U=Intel® Pentium ® Dual CPU E2160 @ 1.80GHz 1.80 GHzMemory (RAM): 2.00 GBSystem Type: 32-bit Operating System.Graphics Card had been upgraded to a Radeon HD 4650 512mb/DDR2For the most part, the game seems to be operating just fine now. I did discover that the display setting on the game did not match that of the monitor, and that helped a lot. If there are any tweaks that you guys can suggest with the listed information, it'll be greatly appreciated. The only minor issue that seems to probably bug only me is, when I switch from view to view, it takes a second or two for the frames to fill-in the plane and cockpit.@ norman s, I did a reinstall.@ronzie, I did install the latest version of FSUIPC. I'm sure that these things helped!
