Help Translating a PDF file

Featured Replies

Forgive me for posting this English but I do not read or write French.A number of us have installed the marvelous Mirage 2000 Rollus aircraft but find we cannot start the engines (amongst other things). The manual is an 82 page PDF document in French so we are unable to read the proper things to do. An English translation was to have been made available but apparently the authors never got around to doing that.So my question is this; would anyone be interested in translating this document into English - or at least the portion of it which deals with start up procedures? If so, please send me a PM (Personal Message) in English please and I can arrange to send the PDF document to you for review. The aircraft package in question can be found here:http://rollus13.pers...uf.fr/index.phpThanks in advance.

In reviewing the instructions and feedback of using the method you suggested, it appears that the PDF file would have to be split into a number of smaller PDF files (there is apparently a file size limit) and I have not figured out how to do that. The file in question is quite large (82 pages if memory serves) and of course has many illustrations which hopefully could be included in the translation. Thanks for the tip - I will look into it further anyway.

Hi David,You could try PDFSam to split the PDF file. It's free :(

KInd regards

Nice program, however the "free" trial version only splits a small portion of the pdf file so will have to look at some other options I guess. Thanks for the tip anyway.

Hello,Are you sure you use the "Basic Version" ?I just tested and no problems and no limitations ....I splited a 180 MB PDF in 180 parts of 1 MB in a few seconds :( http://www.pdfsam.org/?page_id=32Completely free proggy and of course it's no warranty (in the disclaimer) :( Regards.bye.gifGus.

I made the mistake of clicking on an "ad" on the same page which downloaded a trial version of totally different program.Got the correct one this time and it worked perfectly. Sweet program and the price is right!

Hi Opa ! I have also just started using the Rollus Mirage2000 also , I love it. I can help you with some translations from the manual if you want. Why don't you send me a personal mail and I can try to answer your specific questions. Be sure that you have the two following files:Doc_Mirage2000-5.pdf and Mirage2000-5-check.htm as you will need both to understand the start up procedures. The start up check-list is shown in the htm file under the section "Mise en route" and the corresponding buttons to push and levers to pull are shown in the other pdf file on pages 33 and 34. I wouldn't think you will get much help from an automatic translation program as almost all of the manual is in the form of screeenshots.

Hi Paul - Many thanks for pointing me in the right direction!I have used the PDFSam program which Gus recommended to create individual pages from the PDF document and now have a fairly good translation of the check.htm file.As soon as I have some time I shall try to compare the checklist info with the pictures on page 33 and 34 and see if I can get the beast to start up. Obviously this is not the type of aircraft which will respond to the CTRL E method!I am going to provide my e-mail address in a PM to you so that if you have written down the steps you use to get it up and running you could possibly send them to me.Thanks again to all who have responded/!

David, there will always be a good bottle of Bordeaux wine to share with you in our Frenchie forum! :(
