September 4, 201015 yr I'm not too deep into AI, but I did install WOAI for airport traffic. At times I choose not to use ATC, just fly my route, get ATIS report, then land on the appropriate runway. My problem is there's always a jet on my landing runway, or one creeping on as I get close. I get tired of doing go-arounds, so is there something I can do to get priority treatment for the runway? Thanks in advance for any tips. Curt Branch
September 4, 201015 yr I know it's not what you're looking for, but you can remove detect collision from the realism options.
September 4, 201015 yr AI and ATC is absolutely horrendous in FSX, thats why I switched to flying online only. Real people do make mistakes, but not nearly as many as the default FSX ATC. I highly recommend giving it a go, its free and its the single best addon for FSX. It does require some time and effort tho, but the immersion factor will be multiplied. Plus there's the community aspect as well which increased the enjoyment a bunch for me, and im not really that social of a person in the first place. Also, in real life its quite common with different runways for landing and takeoff, and landing will often be given the runway with the highest sidewind component, so maybe you actually should have landed on another runway than the one your tried to land on?
September 4, 201015 yr I think that without contacting the tower, ATC will not stop any aircraft from taxiing into your path or holding at the hold at the entrance to the runway as you are landing. The possible solution to it is to decrease the amount of AI you are using so there are fewer planes to contend with, but the drawback is pretty lifeless airports.Maybe someone else has a better idea. September 4, 201015 yr I think if you have fsuipc, you can assign a key or joy button to the "traffic zapper" command which will blow away AI in front of you.scott s..
September 5, 201015 yr Author I think if you have fsuipc, you can assign a key or joy button to the "traffic zapper" command which will blow away AI in front of you.scott s..Scott, that sounds interesting. When landing today, watching that jet pull out in front of me, I wanted to zap him good. Zap him into the next county actually. I'll research this more. :( Curt Branch
