September 7, 201015 yr Payton412,Rarely is anything "that simple" but it almost is...AI traffic is a form of SCENERY. Traffic bgl files can go in any active scenery folder ( such as addon scenery )I prefer to separate different types of traffic into different folders so they can be activated/deactivated independently..Static Traffic..Military Traffic..Custom Traffic (for my local small GA airports)etcCustom scenery folders must always be added to the scenery library and activated like any scenery. The Aircraft CAN be added to the default SimObjects\Airplanes folder but I hate cluttering up default folders so mine are in:..AddOnAircraft ( for flying )..AIAircraft ( for AI only )These extra aircraft folders must be referenced in the FSX.cfg by included the appropriate lines with the other pathing statements.SimObjectPaths.6=G:\AIAircraftSimObjectPaths.7=G:\AddonAircraftLoyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro
September 7, 201015 yr So what your saying is all I need to do is download a flight plan and put the bgl in the scenery folder?
September 7, 201015 yr So what your saying is all I need to do is download a flight plan and put the bgl in the scenery folder? If you are 'lucky' and have the necessary aircraft to fly the schedules that is all you would have to do - if, for example, the traffic bgl ONLY used default aircraft. This is rarely the case as the usual purpose is to get non-default aircraft models in appropriate liveries. When you download a traffic plan you need to READ the "README" file to see what aircraft are needed. Typically, you would at least have to add airline textures - Egyptian textures, for instance, to fly mid-east and Med flights - to an aircraft that you already have. Usually the download would have the traffic plan and the appropriate textures; the aircraft may be included or maybe the instructions would tell you to download such-and-such an aircraft and add the textures to that aircraft (in the cfg file). There are probably full tutorials already with lots of details on how this is done. If I were just getting started with AI additions, I believe I would try out the World of AI addons; there is an installer that should take care of most of the details.I did a little local traffic creation a few year ago, but I'm for more interested in scenery additions and usually run with minimal or no AI. I have Ultimate Traffic for when I actually want real-world airlines in my skies. AI does not handle mountainous terrian well, and that's where I usually fly.Loyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro
September 7, 201015 yr I suggest downloading and studying this fine Tutorial by Mike Stanton. It describes the basics you need to know about how AI Traffic files are created.http://library.avsim...s2004&Go=SearchIt may look difficult but once you understand the concepts, it can be a lot of fun. Good Luck!
September 7, 201015 yr Im having problems with the config file text document I try to copy and paste the things I need to and it wont let me save! it says ''destination already exists would you like to replace it?

September 7, 201015 yr Im having problems with the config file text document I try to copy and paste the things I need to and it wont let me save! it says ''destination already exists would you like to replace it?Yes, you are going to replace the existing file, BUTThe single most IMPORTANT thing to do when you change things in any game/simulator is ALWAYS make a BACKUP COPY of the file you are changing. This is expecially true for FSX. Most FSX files cannot be directly recovered from the DVD - if you accidently delete a config file or an essential part of one, you will have to do a repair or reinstall operation. My normal procedure is to make a copy of the config file of each (all) aircraft as I initially install it:open aircraft.cfgSAVE AS orig_aircraft.cfg or orig_C172.cfg (including the aircraft type)open aircraft.cfg and editSave (overwriting)also very helpful is to keep the 'readme' or whatever files have the new config entries in an added "Docs" folder in the aircraft folder - so you can rebuild that config file if needed.Boeing 737-400-Docs--American--AlAir--Eastern--Quantas--TWA-model-panel-sound-texture-texture.1Making massive changes can lead to massive headache! Be careful, be patient, be backed up!As carpenters say..."measure twice; cut once"Loyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro
September 7, 201015 yr Read the tutorial that David mentioned.Go to World of AI: http://www.world-of-ai.com/You will need to download their installer and their packages. They also have an active forum that only deals with AI traffic.Alpha India is also a good site with files and a forum: http://www.alpha-india.net/There really is a little more to AI traffic than just dropping in a file. I think the World of AI stuff will get you in the ballpark with the least amount of pain. There are so many do's and don't's with ai, it helps to understand how the system works before you play with it.
