September 8, 201015 yr Hi all,Not sure where to post this - sorry if this is the wrong place. Please let me know the correct place. Since installing the LCF, when FSX starts, I get a warning over the FSX splash screen that PMDGSOUND.DLL is causing problems or corrupt. The dialog box then asks whether to continue to load it. I've been clicking "No". This makes for strange flying, and seems to result in missing textures on the LCF. I tried replacing the file pmdgsound.dll from a backup made 18 months ago, but the same message comes up. Uninstalling LCF doesn't eliminate the startup warning. The structure of the dll.xml file passes the structure-checker (xml parser?) that I found somewhere on the net a while ago. Is there a way to fix this?thanks in advance, dan davisonp.s. I tried searching the PMDG forums, but the new search function is really strange...if I search for "pmdgsound.dll", the search engine tells me it cannot find "pmdgsounddll".The period in the file name is removed. Putting single, or double, quotes around the name doesn't help either. Couldn't find anything via a google search.System: FSX+ Acceleration, Win XP Pro SP3, ASUS P6T, [email protected], 4GB, ATI 5750 1GBDDR5. 2.6TB disk, PMDG 747, 748, LCF, MD-11, J41, LDS767, Dodosim 206X. --Dan "lensman" Davisonrs
September 8, 201015 yr Try running the 747 installer and select 'repair' options. Just a thought. Dan Downs KCRP
September 10, 201015 yr Author Hi Dan,Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, it didn't work. For now, I'm flying silent. Thanks, dan davison --Dan "lensman" Davisonrs
September 10, 201015 yr Ok this topic is now 3 Dan's strong :Big Grin:What do your "Windows Event Logs" show for the error? It might be caused by something else.I doubt it was the actual PMDGSOUND.DLL that was the problem, but maybe a sound driver? Sometimes windows update messes with them and adds new drivers if that option is selected (I think it is by default). Try reinstalling your sound drivers just to make sure one of them didn't get hosed or anything. Last thing I can think of is to hide your FSX.cfg. Just cut and paste it somewhere else and let FSX rebuild a new one and test. If the problem goes away, we're on the right track, if not, replace your old one. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
September 10, 201015 yr Author Dan[2], :)Hey, you're right. Windows Update appears to have updated some sound care driver. My seizure meds are kicking in, so I'll try again in the morning & report what happens. How can WUpdate change a driver if I have it set to download only? (Rhetorical question, MS can do whatever the heck it wants, sigh).I really appreciate it,dan[0] davison --Dan "lensman" Davisonrs
