September 9, 201015 yr Hello,After FS2004 was released, my local airport had both of its runways extended. I have zero experience with scenery modification or deisgn and have searched the forums but couldn't find any solid advice as to how to extend the runways in FS2004. Is there anyone with expereince willing to help me out? The airport is KSBM.Thanks,John

It is free.It comes with a comprehensive user (HELP) manual which is one of the best ever written. If the extensions of the runways are not too long (requiring attention to other details such as the ground cover etc.) , I would think that should suffice. You can get the Afcad utuility here:http://library.avsim...=root&Go=Search
September 10, 201015 yr Author Thanks Opa.I found an updated version of KSBM in AFCAD format, but it is an early version before the main runway was extended. Using that file to avoid corrupting the BGL file in my FS directory if I screwed something up I have successfully extended the main runway and added the new taxi ways. My question now is, if I just copy this .BGL file to the appropriate folder will the modifications show up in FS? What if something isn't right, for example a tree is placed directly in the middle of the runway and I want to revert back to the original. Can I just simply delete this modified .BGL file? If an object is placed in the path of a runway or taxiway is there a way to delete the object? Thanks again,John

You can always remove it and FS will revert back to using the original default afcad. If you have unwanted objects - such as trees where they should not be - they can be "excluded" using another utility. If you need help, feel free to send me a PM (Personal Message) with your e-mail address in it (do not put your e-mal address in a forum post) and we can comminucate that way.Hope that helps.
September 10, 201015 yr Author Thank you, Sir!I will give a try and contact you via PM if needed. Thanks again,John
September 10, 201015 yr I would only use ADE9 for this project, plus an appropriate terrain tool such as SBuilder.Taking a quick look at this, I think the following changes are important to do at a minimum1. Extend 03-21 runway and correctly place2. Extend 13-31 runway and correctly place3. Move the PAPI on all four runways to new location4. Move the Rwy 21 ILS localizer and localizer antenna and transmitter objects5. Move the Rwy 21 Glideslope and gliseslope antenna object6. Move windsocks (if needed)7. Update ILS 21 approach using CUVUN waypoint for FAF and missed appr hold at FAH course 36 as shown on chart. Add OSH transition.8. Extend flatten/autogen exclusion terrain polygons.Couldn't find a current aerial photo with the extended runway 03-21. Lacking anything better I guess you could use the airport plan view inset on the approach chart to guesstimate the taxiway changes.scott s..
September 11, 201015 yr What you suggest is certainly proper Scott - but remember the OP is a complete newbie to this sort of thing - that is why I recommended he start out using AFCAD. Once he gets familar with the structure of afcads perhaps he will want to explore what can be done with ADE9X etc..One has to learn to crawl before he can walk.

But even if you ignore the procedure changes and just use AFCAD, I think the rest of the changes do need to be made.scott s..
