September 13, 201015 yr I was watching a documentary long time ago on the disc. channel about a pilot who worked for Netjets. She would be on call for two weeks then get one week off then rinse and repeat. Now before she got ready to go for her active weeks, she recieved a fax for her two week schedule in her home. What I want to know, is does anyone know what information specifically would be on that fax.for example:does it just say pick up x amount of passengers at airport x and take them to airport y ORwould there be more details, like would the pilot know for what reason? the names? etc?I would like to be able to give that to my pilots who join my VAthanksBrian S Ciao!
September 14, 201015 yr Every flight operated under part 135 must have a flight release document prepared by the company's operations or dispatch department. The release normally has information including: departure and destination airports, the departure date and time, estimated arrival time at destination, a manifest of passengers listing their names, the specific FBOs to be used at the departure and destination airports etc.The document usually has other info too, such has what catering is required, and whether any passengers require assistance boarding etc, plus lodging arrangements for the crew for each overnight stop.Jim Barrett Jim BarrettLicensed Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic, Avionics, Electrical & Air Data Systems Specialist. September 18, 201015 yr The weekly skeds ( or "week-aheads" ) are more or less a calendar type schedule, not much different than what you could generate using MS calendar programs or iCal for Mac. And they usually have very little info beyond what city and what time your duty day will start and end. These are subject to change and they usually do change many times before the week is out. Expect to get an amended one at least every other day while on the road. The flight release is generated on the day of departure. They are time sensitive documents and are usually generated by ops around 1 to 3 hours prior to departure, depending on many variables from wx to last minute changes to the pax list to last minute requests from the pax. They contain such information as your, expected weight and balance, trip number, call sign, route of flight, weather enroute, destination and alternate wx. A passenger manifest is also included but a separate document and yes it has information about the pax. We also get a RON sheet, (Remain Over Night). This will lists such items as rental cars, hotels reservations, call in times, etc... The formats and packets will vary from operation to operation but they are not so alien that one pilot from one company couldn't make heads or tales from the documents from another company. A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools. - Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
September 18, 201015 yr Author thanks, I can see this would be very time consuming if not down right impractical to try to simulate this in a flight simulator/VA environmentI guess I could give them at least the calender schedule.. Ciao!
