September 16, 201015 yr Hi:As some of you know - getting back into FS.Using the PMDG 737, my frame rates are really poor (10). They stay at around 7-12 no matter what I do. If I move to an outside view the frame rates jump to 21 (which is what I have the default frame rate set to). This is running in WINDOWED mode.I switched to FULL SCREEN (Alt + Enter) and my frame rates jumped back up to 21 plus. However, the gauges show a large black box where the gauges were. No matter what I do I cannot see the gauges. If I switch back to windowed mode the gauges are visible again, however my frame rates drop back to 7-11.Ideas?All other views are perfect. The issue is only with the gauges not showing in full screen mode.Thank you as I'm lost on this one. Iain WilloW (YMHB) flaps2approach.comB737-800 simulator
September 16, 201015 yr long shot but here goes :You hav FS in the same resolution as the desktop?Or,are you using 16 bit colors? If so,change it to 32 bit.
September 16, 201015 yr Ian, are you using the 'No-VC' model? That would save some fps. Windowed view should be faster than full screen. Check your diplay settings too. Dave Taylor
September 16, 201015 yr You can try checking/unchecking the Render to Texture box in Options. Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
September 16, 201015 yr You mentioned you are getting back into FS - was this a re install of FS ? a reinstall of PMDG ?Have you confirmed this happens on all aircraft or just the PMDG? This could possibly be from a corrupted installation (REinstall) of the PMDG. Quote
September 16, 201015 yr Author Hi;Thanks for your replies.I am running in 32 bit mode with the screen set to the default screen resolution.I am not running virtual cockpit (VC) – only the 2D panels and have the virtual settings set to nothing.Altering any of the display/hardware settings does nothing at all – the frames sit between 7-12 no matter what setting you choose (in windowed mode)Yes this is a new reinstall, But, I reformatted the hard drive, reinstalled XP, FS9, etc from the beginning as if a new machine. The black lower part of the screen in full window mode occurs for all aircraft (PMDG, Aerowork B200 King Air & default Cessna). The screen does not replicate the gauge panel shape; it literally is half the lower screen. The upper area of the monitor shows the outside forward view. It’s just the lower half of the screen that is affected. Obviously, the frame rates show +21 with the lower screen, where the gauges would be, blanked out (in full window mode).I’d appreciate some ideas as I have none. I was thinking about graphic card drivers (Nvidia), but I’m using the same drivers as I used to, so cannot see what would have changed here.Thank you, Iain WilloW (YMHB) flaps2approach.comB737-800 simulator
September 17, 201015 yr Author Evening Simmers:Well, I spent most of the morning trolling the forums and net for information on this. It seems I am not alone and my problem maybe NVIDIA driver related. When I got home today before I roll back anything, I thought I'd delete my FS9.cfg file and allow FS to generate a new file automatically. I then configured my settings as before from the start up screen. What would you know!!! My frame rates are back at 16 -20 with traffic and settings set to very high and max!. Those settings are landing at the airport. In the air they sit at 25 which is what I have the frame rates limited to.Further, I can swap from full screen to windowed view again. What happened I have no idea, but the generation of a replacement .CFG file seems to have solved my issue - at least for the time being. How long? Who knows it's Microsoft.....For those interested, I have NOT messed with my .cfg file at all - it is stock standard. I'll try messing with the file later in the weekend (i like everyone else have certain favourite tweaks), but at the moment I'm just happy to up and flying with high end frames again.Wanted to get this post out in case others are having similar hassles. Best to all, Iain :( WilloW (YMHB) flaps2approach.comB737-800 simulator
