September 18, 201015 yr Hello simmers,I know this probably doesn't go here but I'm at wits ends trying to figure this out.I bought a product from a sim store and when I clicked on the file to install it. it was all Greek to me. A bunch of computer talk. I thought an Adobe product was supposed to change that stuff to English. Evidentlywrong.Has anyone had this problem and able to get around it.Thanks, Mike

September 19, 201015 yr Hello,Even if it's in Chinese .. Russian or any exotic languages (at least for some of us :) ) a installer stay a installer ...Usually the buttons to mouse click (their location) and the order is same like in the installers GUI in your language. If we know the exact name of the product .. maybe some can give you extra help .....Regards.Gus.
September 19, 201015 yr Author The product is CLS Airbus A330-340 Long Hauler Package from Simpilot. They haven't answered me yet anr it's been over 12 hours. When I get a file like that I usually right click and I have the option to "open with" and I click on Adobe Reader 3. and it solves the problem. This time I had no option with Adobe. Am I being to impatient? They took my money already. BTW, this is for FS9.Thank you both for your input.Mike
September 19, 201015 yr Hello,Methink I'm now confused by your answer ...CLS deliver their products with english GUI language.Adobe reader is usually used for read files PDF format.I dunno why you need (at first place) Adobe 3 reader for launch a executable (the installer or setup.exe if any..)Or maybe you have already installed the product but unable to open a PDF help or documentation file ?BTW the recent (free) "Adobe Reader" is version 9 .Regards.Gus.
September 19, 201015 yr Just wondering.... If it's a document that you're trying to open rather than an executable file, you could try opening using windows notepad. I havent installed office on my games machine so sometimes the files that accompany an add on open as gobledygook unless I open in notepad. It doesnt look as pretty as a properly formatted pdf but its good enough to figure out whats in the file.... usually. If it is part of the installer or executable file, my apologies for me misunderstanding, and hope you get it sorted. Minx

Try opening the file with Notepad or Wordpad... I haven't seen Adobe Reader 3 in years - what OS are you running?DJ

September 22, 201015 yr I'm sorry guys. It is Reader 9. Toughest add-on Ive ever dealt with. Thanks again.MikeUnless I missed it, I don't believe you have ever told us what the name of the file is that you are attempting to open - more importantly, what is the extension?Adobe Reader is only used to open and read files with a PDF extension. If you are not seeing the extension, go to your Tools/Folder Options/View dialogue and uncheck the line which says "Hide extensions for known file types".
October 2, 201015 yr I'm sorry guys. It is Reader 9. Toughest add-on Ive ever dealt with. Thanks again.MikeBy any chance is it a AIR file Adobe AIR Installer is req. to install those files...!!! nickksy
October 2, 201015 yr By any chance is it a AIR file Adobe AIR Installer is req. to install those files...!!!You are confused. Air files in FS2004 (or FSX) do not get "installed". They are used just as they are.If the OP is seeing an installation icon associated with a FS .air file, it means that Adobe has installed another utility (usually during an automatic update to the Reader) - without the user being advised - named Adobe Air.This program is only used by a few websites and or places such as doctor's offices to display specialized content. It has nothing to do with FS. Unfortunately, this Adobe program uses the same air extension as FS does. When it sees a FS air file, it does not recognize the format and usually reports it as being corrupt - which of course it is not. Most of us have simply removed the Adobe Air program from our computers. Many have also gone to the free FOXIT pdf reader program. If you wish to open a FS .air file to view it or modify it's contents, you need to used this utility:http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=aired152_update806.zip&CatID=root&Go=SearchHope that helps.
