FS9 and Windows 7

Either version will work and there is no performance gain by using one or the other. I use the Home version which is a little cheaper and I think most simmers use this version.Best regards,Jim

I'd get Pro if I were you. I have Ultimate but could easily have made do with Pro.Check here for version differences. The major difference between Home and Pro would be the XP compatibility mode as some programs may not run under 7.http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/compare/default.aspx

Hi there, I work with Windows 7 Professional and eeverything is fine, but you should try to get the 64 bit version. It´s much more faster.

Best regards, Steffen

Firehawk44 is indeed very much correct in saying that FS9, FSX, and indeed any other game will work identically on any flavor of Windows 7. The core of Windows is the same across all versions, only the add-on features are different. graham3278 is on the right path suggesting that you check Microsoft for the differences between the packages, but I wouldn't be so quick as to blanket recommend the Professional version. As someone with a sizable collection of needed and frequently used software, I have never once needed to have Windows 7 drop into the XP emulation mode - normal, native Win7 has always been just fine. Personally, I DO run Professional, because I have a need for the remote desktop abilities which the Pro version has. If a user has basic networking needs, chances are the "Home Premium" version will be all the Windows they'd ever need. Keep in mind that if you do purchase a "lesser" version of Windows and you suddenly find that you need to upgrade to Professional or Ultimate, you can do this directly through Microsoft right on your computer with the "Anytime Upgrade" feature. This allows you to upgrade your edition on-the-fly without any muss and fuss... Superpilotv2 suggests the 64-bit version... in my experience, x64 isn't noticeably faster, however it does allow you to utilize much more RAM. If you have more than 4 GB of RAM (or plan to increase your RAM to >4GB) in your computer, x64 will be your better choice. 32-bit is still suitable for machines with less than 4 GB of RAM. Remember that Windows 7 ships with both versions, so you do not have to specifically purchase x64 or x32... you only need to choose which one you wish to install. I'd look to the Home Premium version first of whichever bit-version is suitable to your memory situation. You'll likely be quite happy there, and you have upgrade options built right in if you ever need more of the features. -Greg
