ASE Beta Build 625 - Still incorrect destination winds

Featured Replies

I've just completed my first flight into Houston using the ASE beta build 625.I've changed the weather back to standard from DWC, but on arrival at KIAH, the wind was about 90 degrees off what it should have been. The ASE report had winds 220/4. The Active Sky ATIS (122.02) gave winds at 217/4. Yet the FSX ATIS gave 128/4. And the actual wind on landing was indeed 128/4.I follow the following procedure at startup:1. Load FSX and load my saved fight.2. Set time and date to my requirment.3. Start ASE, and ensure 'Lock to Sim' is ticked. 4. Once weather has all loaded, load flight plan in briefing page.5. Select 'Refresh AI' on the report page. There were no problems with departure weather, and all the other aspects of destination weather were correct (altimeter, cloud, vis, temp, dew point).

Hey Jim or Damien,I must agree; having used 622 & 625 in Standard mode, I'm getting the really bad pauses in RC, as if DWC is enabled - but it's not (I've tripple checked). I've tried with range suppression enabled and disabled. It's almost like some portion of the DWC global code has made its way into to the Standard code. B625 looks great and the winds are being set immediately and correctly when launching FSX, but now I can't use Radar Contact at all - same symptoms when using DWC (long pauses near destination and incorrect analysis of arrival rwy).

I had a similar problem. It seemed that despite having Standard ticked, DWC was still on.I solved this using the following procedure:1. Select DWC, save settings and close down.2. Select Standard, save settings and close down. This seems to have solved the DWC issue for me, but whilst Radar Contact worked fine, ASE was seemingly sending the incorrect winds to FSX.

Ah indeed, I could see where that might do it. Thanks - I'll give it try as soon as I can.

Reporting back on B625, checking DWC -> Restart ASE -> re-check Standard Mode -> Restart ASE, does seem to clear this issue. No more RC stalls and winds seem to now coorspond better on arrival. :)Jim, you might want to have damien check the installer and the checked modes coorsponding to the actual active mode after install. I could tell (because of RC stutters & stalls), that DWC was really enabled when in fact the standard mode was shown as checked. That'll mess up a good number of folks who take the checked mode as gospel after installing B625 and beyond.

Al and Phil,The various problems you are reporting are similar to those that I have been reporting in an earlier thread. Please see "ASE or ASX and Why?"Bill Bridges
