September 13, 200322 yr Well, today is a-day. Im going to set a flight from krno to klas to kphx. If it degrades or becomes unflyable then thats it. its deleted. but will hold onto it when or if a patch is released. wish me luck will report in 3 hours time.
September 13, 200322 yr Without any doubt, the photo-real airport at Phoenix is going to slow my system down more than KPHX in FS2002. But then the whole area looks 100 times better. FPS & fluid rates depend on aircraft & weather settings. The Caribbean & various backcountry areas look much better in FS9 as well as improved performance.............. which means I wouldn't switch back to FS2002 for those areas. But then many of my add-ons for both aircraft & scenery still reside in FS2002 which means I'll keep it too. I see no problem with both simulations as they both run very adaquately on my 1 1/2+ year old Athlon 1900XP/Geforce3Ti500. This system was one of the "top of the lines for FS2002" & it doesn't degrade in looks or performance with FS9. If anything, FS9 usually looks better.......... but not in "all" cases.L.Adamson
September 13, 200322 yr Ok, everyone here are the results of my test...Took of from KRNO at 1530hrs 16R ifr maintained constant frames of 22fps(i guess didnt have the counter on) arrived at KLAS at 1620 hrs. not too many stutters on final. However stutters almost became a problem while taxing to the gate . then waited 15 minutes and took of for KPHX DURING TAXI TO DEPARTURE runway 25r. everytime you looked right left etc it paused the sim about a second or two this remained for the remainder of the flight to phoenix. no stutters on landing at kphx however the pauses increased to two or more seconds. My conclusion...I'll keep her if we get a patch.Has a minor memory leak or mismanagement on how the graphics engine works. does not release the cache of places youve been its still loading but not dropping off.autogen is mostly the cause of stutters. So, in accordance to the msfs teams own statements regarding a patch criteria this game seriously needs a patch to increase memory release time on graphics engine and autogen. And as such meets those criteria for a patch.
