September 12, 200322 yr Well, after one and a half mos. of tweaking to no avail. The poor performance in my system of FS-9 using any and all settings. turning settings down to the left with nothing left looking worse than fs7. Constant low slide show frames, stutters no matter what I try. What tweak I try, snake oil and other wise never works or will work once then no more.I've decided to go back to fs8 until MS fixes this sim. If not then I won't be. I want to fly again not try to fly, fix, fly, fix, stutter, stutter, crash.I'm just tired of it whats the point of the nice new autogen if you have to disable it in order to land your plane, whats the point of having the new clouds if you can't use them witout being in a bad slide show.I'm done. All these problems has burnt me out on fs. I'll troll here offer my thoughts try to help people out but I'm done other wise. Thank you Chris Willis, and everyone else who tried to help over the last month.
September 12, 200322 yr hi,i agree with you to some extent, but i do also think you should upgrade you computer. I suppose we all have to move with the times.:-wave I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
September 12, 200322 yr Clay thanks, I own a pentium 4 2.53g 533fsb Not the best but not the worst. I really shouldn't have to upgrade yet. fx 5900 sound audigy2

September 12, 200322 yr yea i agree thats a top system you got there, FS9 is pretty good with my set up.And your right, you dont need to upgrade till fs10 maybe.I thought you had a P3 800 or something... I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
September 12, 200322 yr As I tried to say in the other thread, I'm pretty much with you--I fly FS2004 once or twice a week--only away from airports in my Microlight. What it comes down to is an airport like KIAH (Houston), even at the most minimum settings, I manage only about 20fps on finals, although the fps "spikes" from time to time in the 22-24 range. I know some would love that and given my system, I should be happy with it--but in FS2002 I can shoot the same approach and my fps doesn't waiver one bit from the 25 I have it locked at. Unlocked, it stays in the 30's at maxed scenery density (I don't fly with AI, Shadows or Autogen in either sim). I also don't have clouds loaded, I rigged FS2004 for the most minimum of systems--and airport performance is still lousy. 20fps just doesn't cut it if I'm trying to shoot a tough crosswind approach with gusting winds. So FS2004 is for "play", and FS2002 is for more serious flying.I don't think I'm asking too much--away from airports in FS2004, I can crank out 30-40 fps. Where I think you are right about FS2004's code, is I think FS2004 attempts to display objects at too high a detail, too far out. And Sadly I think this was intentional on Microsoft's part--I remember some simmers complained that they couldn't see airports far enough out in FS2002.Happily, I chose what's more important--a vacation for my wife and daughter, vs. a new system this fall.... Maybe next year I'll try again. I'm keeping FS2004 on my system to play in the clouds, and that's about it.... Guess my screenshots won't get much attention if they're mostly FS2002...The only thing I haven't seen are crashes--maybe my system is so dang slow, it can't stress FS2004 enough :)-John
September 12, 200322 yr Actually ive been toying with the idea of trying to merge the two. but I dont know.
September 12, 200322 yr I'm trying to keep FS2004 for the new weather engine, clouds are better. I agree about performance on approaches and detailed airports.Ulisses
September 12, 200322 yr I made a merge file which allowed one to use FS2002's airports with FS2004. But the flip side is Autogen was lost, and some airports have been "moved" in FS2004, so locating yourself to a runway can place you in an unexpected location. And in spite of the change, airport performance seemed worse than looking at the exact same scenery in FS2002.... I finally wrote off the whole process as a waste of time.
September 12, 200322 yr Commercial Member Hi 747, " Constant low slide show frames, stutters no matter what I try"Be sure you don`t have 3rd party stuff that's corrupt the performance of reduce alot your frame rate and generate stutters etc, if you make the test always with the same situation and same files. There is something strange, because you have similar system like mine and I get between 20 and 30 fps at full fs2004 slider to right with no problem and no slide show at all. between 30 and 80 with higher altitude than 10 000 feet. I can even have higher FPS If I reduce some slider to middle or disable 2 things etcI recommend to check outside Fs2004 and more on the system or others things can cause these slide show.I have set same situation with fs2002 and fs2004 at meigs= same fps like fs2002, but fs2002 have 2d clouds, less autogen, poorer environment sky, more blurier engine, appears way too much less realistic. I can set many more same situation like fs2002 exact the same performance but with 3D clouds and all the new stuff inside. Now with those situation ,I can tell fs2004 handle better fps then fs2002 with 3d clouds and more autogen compare to 2d clouds and less autogen and less details fs2002 basicaly the same FPS and looks way basic on environment.ASUSP4P800 8x, GFORCE4 TI 4200 128 MB, 512 ram, P4 2.53 GHZ at 533.ThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs Kind RegardsChris Willis
September 12, 200322 yr Yea chris, but im running it virgin now. Always the same. The kicker is that ill do something it works then the next time it doesnt im totaly at a loss here. my pc specs should make this thing haul a** but doesnt. And I really trully don't want to back but im getting frustrated. Let me try something tom. I'll write then.
September 12, 200322 yr Post your video card settings in windows (antialias, AF, etc), how it appears in FS2004 display selection (name) and run a software like burnintest (downloads.com) to check your system components.Ulisses
