People have seen some inprovement but mostly in image quality the FP/S increase is minimal. Not really worth to much money, but if you like having the newest hardware, a GTX460 is a great deal for the performance (230$)

+1  - cool quiet, overclocks like a banshee, cheap and really works well with 260.63 and nvidia Inspector.  There are tons of them out there.http://www.guru3d.com/article/ecs-geforce-gtx-460-black-review/http://downloads.guru3d.com/Forceware-260.63-Win-Vista-|-7-(64-bit)-download-2618.htmlenjoyjja

Don't take the "advice" to go with a 460, you'll just be waisting your cash. The 460 performs almost identically in FSX to the card you already own. At a minimum get a 470GTX or better still a 480GTX.

Keep your 275, no 400 series performs any better than your card in FSX. My former 5770 and 260 performed exactly the same than my current 460.FSX is CPU limited with any of those cards, and that of course includes the 470 and 480. I remember when Bojote switched to a 480 from a 280 and reported "not a single extra frame". I've seen many others post the same resultsAs Luckyman said, you may be able to achieve a bit better IQ, meaning you will be able to run 8xS FSAA with a 460, but the difference is hardly noticiable and if you can already run 8x FSAA a fermi is really no use for you unless you play other games

A 460 is the way to go if he does upgrade - especially if the latest drivers will be used.  Also, my (hot and noisy) ex-285 couldn't clock over 625core.  The (cool and quiet) 460 can easily do 900.  Latest drivers:  http://downloads.guru3d.com/GeForce-Forceware-260.89-Win-7-|-Vista-64-bit-download-2624.htmlEnjoyjja

Thanks for the link jj, I'll try that out. Do you see any benefits in OCing the GPU in FSX and what do the new drivers have to offer please?I have a 850MHz OC profile with 1.037V but I get many artifacts in FSX and no performance boost, so I run my 460 at stock. What core voltage do you need for that 900MHz OC?

The 460 is not even close to a 480/470 in FSX, it is however closer to the 260 that you owned and is perhaps why you seem to perceive 400 series cards will be the same. 460 is a budget card.

how do you know, did you have both, don't lie... And to bad there's no such thing as the GTX485 yetdry.gif

Actually I only overclock to about 840 but it doesn't matter because FSX never even came close to keeping up with it.Cheersjja

what do you have to back that up? just asking, because none of my tests suggest you are right

thanks, same here

Any difference between the 768MB GTX460 and the 1GB GTX460?I was looking at EVGA cards, and you can get a 192-bit 768MB 460 for $180. A 256-bit 1GB 460 is $235.Any thoughts on performance with these two cards? (FSX is my only computer performance concern.)
