No mouse outside small startup window in FS2004

Featured Replies

Hi,In FS2004 when I get to the startup window (where you can select/create flights etc.), the mouse pointer disappears outside the drawn window. This was not the case with FS2002 and I wonder whether anyone knows of some 'secret' settings in fs9.cfg that could solve this. It is quite annoying as that window is pretty small on a 1600x1200 screen and it can take a few moments to locate the mouse pointer while invisible :-).I am using a NVIDIA GF4 Ti 4600 card with the 45.23 drivers and FS runs in full screen. When running the startup in windowed mode this is not a problem, but then it requires alt-enter to switch back to full screen and later, before ending FS, or on restarting FS, another alt-enter.In FS2002 that window fills the entire screen on startup (FS sets the video mode to 800x600 initially). When you end a flight and come back to that selection screen, it's shrunk too (FS is now using 1600x1200), but the mouse still works !Any hints ?Regards,Siggy

Hi!I have the same issue! I am also using a NVIDIA GF4 Ti 4600 card but with the 44.03 drivers. It may be related to our video cards! I know of no cure to it!!Edmundo

I thought this was just the way it has to be, owing to the fact that outside the box is rendered 3d and inside is 2d. Can't have a mouse that can be 2d and 3d at the same time can you?

I have a similar problem. I can't see the mouse pointer when going over the 3d rendition of the aircraft in the startup screen, but everywhere else i can see it. I'm using an ATI Radeon 9200, but I'm also getting an incredible amount of static/streaking lines across my screen when using FS. Its very frustating as my PC is less than a month old :-mad

Read the "readme" guys. It planly states that some cards will not allow the mouse pointer in the plane viewing window. Just hit "alt and enter" at the same time and go to window mode.

Its>very frustating as my PC is less than a month old :-mad>>I also have the mouse pointer problem on my 9200, but apparently it's a known problem. A bit surprising, though - how difficult can it be to show a mouse pointer over a 3D view - many other programs manage it. I don't have the static/streaking problem - it may be a fault on your card. It's also worth getting the latest drivers. When I replaced the drivers that came with the computer the frame rates increased by 20% Visibility settings didn't work on my 9200, forcing me to use only unlimited. But there is a fix for that. Now visibility works fine. It enabled water effects/reflections. If you need the fix, just let me know. Best regards, Chris
