Yoke, Pedals & X52

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone else is running yoke & pedals along side the Saitek X52 stick & throttle? If so, how do you run your setup - Do you leave them all plugged in constantly, or switch between, depending on aircraft?Do you use Saitek software in any way, or do you use FS settings and/or FSUIPC to set them up?Any advice and recommendations for this setup are most welcome. Thanks

HelloI use Fsuipc and leave every input device plugged in, I set up profiles in Fsuipc for each aircraft type. Those controllers not included in a specific profile are then ignored.Get rid of the Saitek software and disable the joystick in Flightsim, use Fsuipc exclusively it is much better.

Will you have to buy FSUIPC to do this?So can you use: X-52 Pro throttle (for throttles), Yoke, and X-52 Pro Joystick for rudder (so no need to buy rudder pedals...)???

HelloYes you will need to buy Fsuipc but if you are going to be using multiple controllers you do need it.Whilst it is entirely possible to do as you describe, in practice it is going to be very difficult to operate the X-52 twist rudder whilst controlling the aircraft and operating the panel.Far easier to assign one of the switches on the yoke to the rudder.Better yet would be to buy a set of rudder pedals as these are essential really for correct coordination of the controls.Always loads of sets on ebay.

Kewl. Yea, but that'll be another expense for rudder pedals-and using the joystick for rudder will be even more challenging, just adding to the experience . Anyways, can you still use CH yoke with Saitek X-52 throttle etc? Or does it all have to be Saitek. If you're using FSUIPC then you can use any controller with any controller aye? Since it will use FSUIPC software, not the Saitek software etc...

HelloYes, Fsuipc does not care what is plugged in.Dont worry about the expense , in a few years you will not dare add up how much this hobby has cost you

Thx, got what i was wondering at for such a long time. Do you really have to configure for each aircraft? That'll take alot of time huh. Any way of universal configuration, where 1 configuration fits all?

HelloYes just make one profile and use that for all aircraft, but that would kind of miss the point of it.Most folk using the profiles function will have at least a three lever throttle and most will be using a dual throttle quadA profile for a piston prop single would be no good for a turbine twin or a piston twinThe profile function will allow you to set the relevant levers for each type of aircraft. So for a single you could have the first three levers for Throttle , Prop , Mixture and use the other three for for Gear , flaps cowl flaps ect. When you load a piston twin it would be instantly configured for two throttles, two prop levers and two mixture levers. If all you want is one configuration then don't use profiles just set up your controls once and they will be loaded for every aircraft. But say you want occasionally to fly a piston single using your yoke and another time a single engine jet using the joystick, this is where you would use a profile.when using the jet profile the yolk would not be assigned any functions so would have no function, the rudder would be assigned to the x52 twist.when flying the piston single all of the axis on the x52 would be disabled except for the twist rudder.Hope that helps, spend some time with the documentation it is very well written and visit the forum at http://forum.simflight.com/forum/30-fsuipc-support-pete-dowson-modules/

So with FSUIPC, I can use 2 keyboards also? 1 as overhead for example...
HelloI do not know about that, you would be better off with one of these for 32 buttons and 8 axishttp://www.leobodnar.com/products/BU0836/
