There's a great spot on the south side of KLAX. Being an international airport you get to hear pilots from different countries.

personally, I don't get the fun of logging tailnumbers, but I do like to watch aircraft movements around EHAM or EHRD. Don't get around to it often enough though (not counting those to be seen from the train to work :-) ). Vince

Hi,Just like Vince I like to watch aircraft at EHAM. Normally I park my car at the little village near Schiphol-Rijk. What's it called again? I take some pictures of interesting planes at that moment but do not write the tailnumbers. (Nikon F80, 70-300mm)I live behind Arnhem so every time when I have a meeting at Schiphol Rijk or Hoofddorp I visit the parking lot at Mc Donalds or the other parking lot just mentioned above. Indeed, I make sure I have a lot of meetings at Hoofddorp and Schiphol Rijk for my work. It gives me the opportunity to visit the Luchtvaart hobbyshop as well. For my work I have to fly once or twice a month. This makes a big benefit for my flightsim hobby.Last week I was invited TWICE up at the Flightdeck on the Fokker 100! I was able to take some pictures which I uploaded to Airliners a couple of days ago. The pictures are in the approval phase at the moment, so they will be available soon I hope.Regards, Ferry

I go to the spotting area out at CVG and use my binoculars to get good views aircraft. I take pictures but I have never recorded tailnumbers or listen to ATC.

Until moving to Bangor, Gwynedd, North Wales I lived within sound and almost within sight of London Heathrow and was a frequent visitor. There was and perhaps still is a restriction on the arrival and departure of Jets during night time hours with 0600 being the time of the first takeoff of the day. My job as a bus driver had me at the airport early one morning and with my ATC scanner tuned I heard the following gem between two aircraft on the ground moving to takeoff position and the tower. This would have been about 0550 with ten minutes to go before the lifting of the takeoff restriction.1st aircraft to tower:

Hmmm yes, did that 25 years ago..... when I had never actually flown in them. Now I must have flown in most KLM aircraft and countless others.... only visit airports professionally or to take pictures nowadays. ;-) My scanner still sits in my office somewhere, haven't used it for over 20 years. :-outta Francois :-wave

"At home in the wild"[link:avsim.com/alaska/alaska_051.htm|Don's Alaskan Bush Charters]"Beavers Lead the Way"[link:www.avsim.com/vfr_center/mainpages/vfr_flights_main_page.htm]VFR Flight Center]"Looking Good Outside"

http://avsim.com/hangar/air/bfu/logo70.gifhttp://www.fssupport.com/images/moose2.gif

________________________Francois A. I visit Manchester Airport with my cousin during the summer months. I take my camcorder to film the runway action (landings and take offs), but he likes to record the registration numbers. There are some interesting visitors to Manchester, including a couple of Royal Saudi Air Force C-130's around three months ago. A Royal Air Force TriStar 500 was there the same day. I remember an Emirates 777-300 arriving one Thursday this year that was provided with a police escort to the terminal !I haven't seen anything too dramatic, except a couple of aborted landings (including a nice low level pass of an AirTours A330-200), and also a British Airways Embraer 145 taking off with fuel trailing from the left wing ! Needless to say, he made a quick return.Chris Low,ENGLAND.
