Disappearing Graphics in FSX

Featured Replies

Hi all,I'm noticing that on random ocassions, my graphics start to disappear as a flight progresses, especially when I cycle between views (VC, 2D cockpit, spot, etc). I'm attaching an example of how my airplane is partial, as well as the AI ariplanes. In the worst case, everything becomes black. I am unable to isolate when this starts to happen. My specs are:Win 7-64Intel Core i7 980X (4.00 GHz o/c) Six Core, 6.4GT/s QPI 12GB Mushkin Redline Tri Channel DDR3 (1600MHz) CL6 1536MB Nvidia GeForce GTX 480, GDDR5, PCIe Any ideas?ThanksLuis KMIA

Usually that means that your CPU and/or GPU is not able to handle the load. Since you have a 980X and a GTX480 that is not the problem, but you may not have them setup correctly. What kind of FPS are you getting, is the sim smooth or do you get a lot of stutters, do you have a lot of addons payware/freeware? How far are your graphic and other FSX sliders turned up? Have you tried tuning Win7 and FSX per the below. When you OC'ed your 980X did you also setup your ram for the proper timing and frequency?Win7 & FSX Tuning - starts at NickN post on 4/11 @ 4:31 PMhttp://www.simforums.com/forums/topic34141_post198187.html#198187Nvidia Inspectorhttp://www.simforums.com/forums/fsx-and-nhancer-settings-for-new-drivers-updated_topic36586.htmlIf you have a lot of tweaks in your FSX.cfg already you maybe better off deleting it and letting FSX build a new one. Save a copy before you delete it just in case you want it back.

Thanks for the tips. My computer was custom-built by Jetline Systems, and I do not mess with any CPU/GPU settings. I also have a lot of scenery (Aerofost, Blueprint, Imaginesim, Latin VFR, AES 2.08) and aircraft (PMDG, Wilco/Feelthere, QWSim, Captain Sim) add-ons, as well as Active Sky Evolution and AISmooth. I think FSX Booster is the culprit since it makes so many FSX.cfg tweaks every time I start it. Late last night, I deleted my FSX.cfg and started over without using FSX Booster, and the problem seems to be gone. My computer gets great FPS at any given time, and I have them locked at 45, and I get 20 in dense areas and 45 in most areas. The only settings I don't use are lens flare, light bloom, scenery shadows, autogen, and ground vehicles because I don;t care much for them. I seldom use DX10 preview.I think the problem is solved. Thanks againLuisKMIA

add the line HIGHMEMFIX=1 under your [GRAPHICS] section in the fsx.cfg. Fixed it for me.

To their credit, the FS Booster support team told me to check "Disable Preload" in the setting screen, and it fixed the problem for me. HIGHMEMFIX=1 in FSX.cfg prevents the problem most of the time.Cheers!LuisKMIA
