FSX CPU comparison Benchmarks

Featured Replies

With all respect, I'm not sure how you think that aircraft do not impact performance as that is completely false and if you cant test it accurately enough just ask ANY developer or maybe other users.
Um, where did you pick up that I said that?? I think you misunderstood what I wrote...
Are you saying that UTX textures could be still cached in those tests even though Word Not Allowed disabled it hence effecting performance?
I don't think that's possible. I've never seen a performance difference between tests that would show that FSX doesn't free the memory when it's closed. Au contraire, I find that W7x64 manages memory so well, I rarely (never?) need to reboot the computer when FSX-testing. Which wasn't the case with Windows XP...

I think he was talking about the need to use another aircraft other than the default CRJ to test FSX properly. I was one of those who mentioned that, and I have no idea how demanding the CRJ is, but it won't hurt to test a PMDG A/C tooDid you run the test with UTX USA on Word Not Allowed?

CRJ is very light. Nothing compared to 744x.Not yet... I got my external disk today, and making a 400GB backup, so it takes some time, even over USB3. 5 hours in total, 1 hour to go... will maybe do it later today evening. If not, then tomorrow.

Ok, hehe, no problem. Just out of curiosity: What is it you are using that takes so long to back up your drive? It just takes 30 min. with Acronis

I'm copying the music data. I don't want them in the Image file, I just want a 1:1 copy. Copying one file goes much faster, i.e. making an image. And btw. 400GB in 30min? What external drive can achieve that?!

Ok, I also copy my data drive like that, but usually do it overnight, just in case some arsehole on the interweb keeps asking for FSX benchmarks He%20He.gif You can browse through files in an Acronis back-up but still prefer to back up my data like you do

Let's keep this on topic. I've started a 744x flight from WSSS to EGLL. I'll save the flight and panel state at TOD. I'll also setup weather as static so it lands on 27L, where nearly all the airport is visible from VC. I'll upload all these files to avsim, and include a readme doc that includes a 100% complete setup guide. (including settings, OS states, driver states etc.)

Great, I can use that - EGLL + 744x. What other scenery? REX, GEX, UTX?

I have disabled all other scenery. I'm just using AS Heathrow X, and 744x, an unmodified FSX.cfg etc etc. All settings, sceneries, addons etc will be explained in the readme doc.

When Its done we should make a new post or spradsheat will all the results. Of course I wont be in the benchmark becasue I have neither addon, but I cant wait to see the results.

I'm ready for testing with 744x. Spreadsheet would be rather impossible, but a clean post, WITHOUT any other comments, only results posted in the same manner would be nice.Maybe something in the form of:Result:---------CPU: ______Overclocked: ______Motherboard: ______GPU: ______Driver: ______Storage: ______etc, all relevant dataOr, I believe Gmail offers this, you can share worksheets with other people, but I believe everyone would have to have gmail account in that case.I don't know of any other way to share a worksheet with other people. Would be cool if there were something!

Yea, a totally clean post is hard though. We'd need the admin to sticky it or something. We had made a spreadsheet here: https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0Ahq4ws8Rx4gudEtLYlE5ZGdDanc1ZG1WcVdZY1FIMUE&hl=en&authkey=CKrfrI8D#gid=0I dont think you need an account

I'm having some trouble with weather. Every time I do this, the stupid atc circles me round, and lands me on 9R, but I want 27L as more airport is visible from here.

If we are going to do these tests accurately, we are going to need to agree on an aircraft, scenery and settings in order to test accurately. AC options include 744x, CS757, LVLD 767. Sceneries include AS EDDF, EGLL Paris CDG, FlyTampa KBOS, FlyTampa Vienna. We need to decide these before bob starts doing tests with different settings to Jim.
With the IL2-Sturmovik flightsim, people used a saved playback track of a flight called The Black Death. It made it easy to compare apples and oranges. Is there a way of creating a stock saved FSX flight that everyone could use; pulling into JFK with sliders maxed, something like that?

I'm just flying for the fun of it.

There are missions, but we are looking at using PMDG744x and addon scenery. The 744 is too complex to simply change a missions ac. Needs to be a custom flight.
