New 52.13 Nvidia Drivers

Featured Replies

Although I do not usually play with betas I felt I had to give these a try after still having problems with antialiasing and menus not appearing e.t.c. on my FX5900These are available at guru3dMenus are now fixed when using 4xS and image quality is superb.Anyone else noticed any improvement ?

Do you mean these 52.13 drivers:Quote from www.guru3d.com: "As part of our procedure before making a driver life (virus/trojan checking and testing the actual driver) we ran some tests on them with a 5900 Ultra. The minute a Direct3D scene is rendered the active fan will stop spinning. The game then exits with an error-code from NVIDIA 'Sentinel error - and something with power'. This bug might be very card specific, be warned ! And if you do decide to try them out watch that fan and make sure. Whatever you do, you do it at your own risk, don't go complain to NVIDIA or us if things go wrong ! You have been warned. These drivers do not have an easy to use setup/installer. You need to do it the old fashion way, by installing the drivers manually. if you do not know what I'm talking about then skip this driver release."They do have one of the highest ratings I've ever seen at guru3d, however...but I'm reluctant.sg

I read that as well on the disclaimer and then went onto the forums to see if anyone had any problems but it seemed no-one did.I am now happy with these drivers, anything to get my menus working OK with AA...

YES AA in nvidia control panel now works !!! (tryed with 2xQ) and no loss in performance and image is perfect .I have a msi FX5200 (no Fan) but they have an increase in system heatthese drivers are promissing so i will keep them if the increase heat is a bug or they make the card use features not avaiable before i don

I see about a 4 degree increase in the heat on my card. I'm now running at 62 degrees. No problems there since the warning is set to 120 degrees.I get a better score in AquaMark3 with these drivers. Almost 43,000. Neither of the fans on my card skipped a beat.I think they're keepers.Jim

Great performance with 52.13 and a NV 5600.The bug of OpenGL games not working in 5x.xx series is now fixes and this is the first 5x.xx driver that fully works without any problems here (Windows 2003).

Just thought I would throw this info in to the pot.You do realize that Nvidia has done away with Trilinear AF filtering in the 5 series of drivers right. That being one of the reasons for the performance increase. Not a good thing in FS though if you choose TLF in your display settings. Saw a SLIGHT performance increase in one of my machines running a 5600Ultra but certainly nothing to write home about. The dropping of TLF is more of an issue with me than anything else has been lately.Just some info.Bobby

BobbyIt looks as if Nvidia has locked the LOD bias at minimum 0 and Rivatuner unlocking script does not, as yet, recognize this driver version. Am I right?

The 52's work fine in Trilinear mode.Allcott

The high ratings have now dropped below 7 as of 10-09 at 9:30 EDT. More raters -- it was a perfect 10 yesterday. One of the highest rated drivers is now 45.33, the flicker-free version for GeForce FX cards (not WHQL).

An update from Guru3D's forum:

For those who fear the fan issue:The fan issue does not apply to any card other than those that have driver-controlled fan speeds -- those with seperate 2d/3d modes. This currently only applies to 5800 and 5900 owners only. No driver has the ability to stop the fan on the other family of cards as their fans run independantly of the driver"

They work good for me. No real performance increase that I can see, as I maintain a lock at 24, but being able to have 2X or 2QX AA and not have the "menu bug" occurs makes them worth it in my book.

Oops, did find a bug.... I think.Running 52.13's with AA 2x and AA 2QX. Although the "blacked out menus" problem has disappeared, I find that I can not scroll any text within the dialog boxes on my kneeboard. This seems to happen only in full screen with AA enables through the driver. Anyone else see this?
