Other weather to download

Featured Replies

Is their any other weather program to download for FS9? I find that Jeppson is not up to date. If I remember right their was a government site for downloading weather for earlier MSFS.Any ideas or programs to make the weather better.Thank youPaul :(

I think there is a freeware program called fsmetar or something like that, I hear good things about it but have never tried it as I use the payware activesky.Worth a look anyways.

I use Active Sky 6.5 rather than there current ASE which for some people have caused performance problems.My work flow is to plan the start of the flight in FS time (not system time). In AS I download the nearest weather archive for the Z time of the departing aircraft, not the current r/w time. The applies the correct METARS for the time of day at the region of that FS flight. Time of day due to solar effects affect the convection activity issues as well as visibility and cloud cover.In AS I load the flight plan, choose the expected ground speed (no wind) as TAS, and make sure the altitude is correct for the cruise. I let AS process the file and print out the full navlog which gives the airport METARS and enroute information of winds aloft with temperatures for the reported altitude levels. In its flight plan report summary it gives you average winds handy for FMC entries for cruise level fuel planning in addition to all of the weather affected fuel planning including temperatures for aircraft performance.If you use FSBuild it will "connect" to this snapshot for its fuel planning calculations.This forum will not let me attach a .pdf file so here poorly formatted column space is a paste of an AS 65 full routed report for a short flight:AS COMPLETE FLIGHT PLAN REPORT - NOT FOR OPERATIONAL USEDEPARTURE WEATHER FOR EGSSEGSS 301650Z 22016KT 9999 SCT020 BKN024 17/12 Q1016EGSS 301101Z 3012/3118 22008KT 9999 SCT030 BKN040 PROB40 3018/3020 BKN012 BECMG3020/3023 6000 -DZ BKN006 PROB40 3023/3107 2000 BR BKN002 PROB40 3109/3112 9999NSW SCT022FL030: 211/28 (13.50) FL060: 256/35 (12.40) FL090: 257/34 (9.70)FL120: 256/29 (0.50) FL180: 263/36 (-10.20) FL240: 278/39 (-21.50)FL300: 281/48 (-38.10) FL340: 281/51 (-47.80) FL390: 275/58 (-57.50)DESTINATION WEATHER FOR EHAMEHAM 301655Z 24013KT 9999 FEW032 18/10 Q1019 NOSIGEHAM 301006Z 3012/3118 25014KT 9999 FEW030 SCT040 BECMG 3017/3019 21008KT CAVOKBECMG 3101/3103 SCT015 BKN025 TEMPO 3102/3108 SCT012 BKN015 PROB30 TEMPO3102/3108 4000 -RADZ SCT008 BKN012 BECMG 3108/3110 SCT030 BECMG 3116/3118 16008KTCAVOKFL030: 225/23 (12.50) FL060: 237/19 (8.50) FL090: 262/20 (7.80)FL120: 275/24 (2.10) FL180: 296/35 (-11.90) FL240: 295/47 (-22.50)FL300: 301/55 (-38.40) FL340: 303/61 (-48.00) FL390: 299/69 (-57.80)ALTERNATE WEATHER FORNo alternate...ENROUTE WEATHEREGSH 301620Z 23014KT 9999 BKN037 20/11 Q1016EGSH 301402Z 3015/3022 22012KT 9999 BKN030FL030: 212/30 (12.70) FL060: 258/30 (12.50) FL090: 259/28 (9.40)FL120: 264/29 (0.70) FL180: 271/37 (-10.40) FL240: 281/39 (-21.90)FL300: 286/50 (-38.40) FL340: 286/55 (-47.80) FL390: 281/61 (-57.40)EHVB 301625Z AUTO 25014KT 9999NDV FEW028/// SCT039/// 18/12 Q1018 BLUEHRD 301007Z 3012/3118 25014KT 9999 FEW030 SCT040 BECMG 3017/3019 21008KT CAVOKBECMG 3101/3103 SCT015 BKN025 TEMPO 3102/3108 SCT012 BKN015 PROB30 TEMPO3102/3108 4000 -RADZ SCT008 BKN012 BECMG 3108/3110 SCT030 BECMG 3116/3118 16008KTCAVOKFL030: 220/24 (12.70) FL060: 259/18 (10.90) FL090: 273/19 (8.40)FL120: 270/23 (2.10) FL180: 293/35 (-11.40) FL240: 292/42 (-22.20)FL300: 297/53 (-38.50) FL340: 297/58 (-47.80) FL390: 295/65 (-57.40)WINDS ALOFT REPORT BY WAYPOINTID FL060 FL090 FL120 FL180 FL240 FL280 FL340 FL390EGSS 256/035 257/034 256/029 263/036 278/039 281/048 281/051 275/058REDFA 258/030 259/028 264/029 271/037 281/039 286/050 286/055 281/061TULIP 259/018 273/019 270/023 293/035 292/042 297/053 297/058 295/065EHAM 237/019 262/020 275/024 296/035 295/047 301/055 303/061 299/069NAVIGATION LOGTO DIST MC MH WDIR WSPD TEMP TAS GS ETEEGSS84.1 82 79 281 51 -47.8 450 497 10REDFA52.5 73 68 286 55 -47.8 450 493 6TULIP33.5 97 94 297 58 -47.8 450 503 3EHAM----- -----170.1 19m0.32HAverage Route Winds for 35000ft: 284/53
