November 1, 201015 yr So, I flew a couple of flights this weekend and it worked pretty well. But, sometimes, I couldn't get him to do what I want. For instance, I was trying to set up for the approach and he was in clean up on one flight. I tried doing the landing checklist on final and he wasn't responding. Sometimes I would call for flaps and he wouldn't respond, etc. I'm assuming most of this is my fault. But, when this happens, sometimes I keep going. So, for instance, I landed without the checklist. And, he's stuck at landing. If I advance the main screen to the next thing (say roll-out or after landing), he should do his flows and then be able for the checklist, right? I got this to work sometimes, but sometimes not. Is there a better way to do this if we're having a "failure to communicate"? Am I doing that the right way to keep him going? November 1, 201015 yr If you haven't tried my checklist out already (or any of the other checklists available) please do because I've never experienced this problem myself. You should be able to find the link to the checklist if you search for it in this thread.
November 1, 201015 yr Author Thanks, WebMaximus. I have been using your checklist and have the AOM checklist in front of me. Here's an example. I say: "Let's start setting up from the approach" . The green bar verifies that's what he heard, and for whatever reason the checklist doesn't complete, probably due to a PEBKAC error. (And if I try "Next" or "Checked" or "complete" as the manual describes, it still doesn't go.) But, the short issue is I don't know why he's stuck, but, I'm moving along with the flight, and I need to move on to the next thing. So, I want him to be on the same page. Can't I just click forward to "Landing" and get him back on the same page? If I just call Landing when it says Approach, he doesn't do anything. November 1, 201015 yr Bryan might have some good input regarding why your FO get stuck the way you describe but if my memory serves at least you should be able to both skip forward and backward and also start over with your current flow/checklist - I believe instructions for how to do that is in the documentation.I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help but I hope you'll eventually find the culprit!
November 1, 201015 yr Author Thanks. I'm going over the documentation again too, but I wanted to get some input from others too. As for the culprit, I'm sure its me. ;) Doug Orvis PP-ASEL-IA (USA), Based at KHEF Picture courtesy of Kyle Rodgers
November 2, 201015 yr Commercial Member Well...sometimes it is but equally nice once you find it :(Hi Doug,The only thing I can think of is that you're not in the right "Mode" as displayed on the FS2Crew Main Panel.Assuming you're following the intended flow, mode switching automatic though.Did you print out the manual and follow the tutorial to the letter?Only other possibility is that maybe you have "Hard Mute" on and you forgot it's on. November 2, 201015 yr Author Bryan, yes, I did follow the tutorial and flows to the letter. Maybe its my mike, maybe its something else I did. And, I do see it change automatically MOST of the time. What I was looking for, that didn't seem super clear to me in the manual was if there's a hiccup, can I just click the panel to put I want to do and tell him to do what I want. And, the answer is yes. So, as another example, if I don't have time for preflight and the menu is on TURN, I can just click it forward to TAXI, call for the taxi checklist and get going, assuming I've done the flows necessary to get to taxi ready. Or, load one of my saved flights from TOD and just start the approach and landing. I just wanted to be clear that such skipping ahead is ok with the program (if not super realistic). Thanks for the clarification. Doug Orvis PP-ASEL-IA (USA), Based at KHEF Picture courtesy of Kyle Rodgers

Thanks for the clarification.Hi Doug,Yes, you can skip.Running the Pre-Flight events is purely optional. If you don't want to run them, simply do not press 'Run PF' on the CFG panel. Also, you can skip to different modes using the arrow keys... you do not need to start at the Turn Check for each flight. You could even start in Approach, etc., if you wanted to.If the Green Bar detects what you're saying in your mic, then your mic is not the issue. I would take a 3rd look at the list of commands. You do need to say exactly what the simulation expects you to say.Chers, B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
November 15, 201015 yr Author Bryan,After a number of flights from various states (cold and dark, ready for takeoff, in flight, on approach), you do have a great product here. Can't wait for the PMDG NGX and your add-on to the add-on. I've determined that some of my problems are the weird hardware failure where the FO stops talking for some reason that others have reported. I can make him do things, but can't hear his voice. A save and restart fixes it, but I can't recreate it all the time. Kind of a head scratcher. Certainly a conflict with another program, but I can't isolate it. Minor problem in the grand scheme of things, though.Best, Doug Orvis PP-ASEL-IA (USA), Based at KHEF Picture courtesy of Kyle Rodgers
