November 5, 201015 yr Hello,I am a little unclear how these settings work in the FSX config.1. Regardless of what I set it at, it always reverts to TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096. I'd like to have it at TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=2048, I think.2. If I install REX 4096 clouds and set the above at 2048, are 2048 textures the result or do I have to stick to their 2048 textures?3. Same goes for various HD textures (Like the new QW stuff)Thank, I am just a little confused. November 6, 201015 yr 2. If I install REX 4096 clouds and set the above at 2048, are 2048 textures the result or do I have to stick to their 2048 textures?I have wondered this myself. I have had the 4096 REX clouds installed before with the FSX.cfg still showing 1024 as the max texture res, and I couldn't even notice a difference.Anyway, REX will always try to set your fsx.cfg to 4096 textures. Any time you make adjustments to your graphics sliders/options within FSX, it will be set back to 1024.
November 6, 201015 yr Author I don't use the REX weather so I don't see how it could influence things unless I run the interface. I installed 4096 textures but set 2048 in the config. Am I getting 4096 at 2048 or does it revert back to 1024?I do make changes in the config but it seems to reset back to 4096 and not 1024 as one would expect.Honestly, I am not sure what FSX is loading. It is a little hard to tell the difference when you don't know what is actually loaded. One would think that I would get lower FPS when it is set to 4096 but I just flew through Tomas and FPS were fantastic. November 6, 201015 yr Hi Duckbilled,I'm a little confused at your question, you are saying that the CFG is reverting to TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096 as it's default? The default texture size is 1024 and after changing it manually in the CFG to 2048 or 4096 it should revert to 1024 if you then change the graphics settings in game.As for REX, if you have 4096 textures selected in REX and a TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=2048 in the FSX CFG you will see 2048 mipmaps of the REX textures in game. In other words, TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD is the maximum texture size that will show in FSX, even if you have this set to 4096 and load 2048 REX textures, the end result will be 2048. If you have TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD set to 2048 and load 4096 REX textures the end result will still be 2048.
