November 9, 201015 yr Does RC reconize closed runways?? I have 15L 8R closed in AFCAD for takeoff and departuer. But they gave me 15L for landing. I did run Makrwy.
November 9, 201015 yr Did you run makerwys v4.41 or better but from within RC's scenery rebuild button? It should recognize that the runway is closed. However if AI are using it RC will assign it since that is the first priority. Did you see FS reindex the scenery after you modified the afcad? Default or add-on airport. Insure that your scenery priority is correct in FS so AI do not use it. If the afcad resides in the same folder as the airport makerunwys.exe must be at 4.41 or better to insure it reads the afcad in proper order. It uses the priority established in the FS scenery.cfg file. Make sure there is not another afcad file with higher priority elsewhere such as installed by some traffic applications. If updating makerwys be sure to rebuild the scenery database from within RC again. If you want to check what is going on with AI download the free traffic look application from:http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66136-useful-additional-programs-1st-november-2010/and also the latest makerwys 4.43 from there. Traffic look opens in a separate window. Set up your weather to favor 15L/8R, park at that airport, and start traffic look. Alt-tab between TL and FS.TL will show AI arrivals with what runway they are assigned to by FS. Don't forget to wait a few minutes until AI show up and stabilize on approach. Let us know what results.

I did run Makrwy.Have you closed both ends of the relevant runways? That is essential for FS to work correctly. Which version of MakeRunways are you running? v4.41. is the latest available here. If you haven't used that version install it and run it again. Ray (Cheshire, England). November 10, 201015 yr That is essential for FS to work correctly.I don't think that statement is correct. It should be possible to close a runway to take-off and landing at one end using AFCAD/AFX/ADE and force it to always use the other end. I have set up several airports to work in that manner and haven't noticed any problems. What I understand will not work in FS is closing a runway to landing at one end and take-off at the other.John My co-pilot's name is Sid and he's a star! http://www.adventure-unlimited.org

I have set up several airports to work in that manner and haven't noticed any problems. That would be a bizarre choice but I concede that it may work. I've never tried it. I don't understand why you would make one end of a runway effectively useless. What I understand will not work in FS is closing a runway to landing at one end and take-off at the other.Agreed. Circumstances where I would configure a runway like this would be:where there are mountains at one end that departing AI traffic cannot avoid (a fair excuse) where there is ILS at only one end and I find it difficult to land the other way (a poor excuse!) November 11, 201015 yr Moderator Hi John,The first explanation make sense. Off the top if my head I can't think of any runways that would be out of bounds for departures due to terrain but I tend to fly in and out of about 50 or so airports in a 737.Regarding the second excuse reason perhaps it's time to brush up on the 1 in 3 rule for such landings.
