Bojote's and/or Nick's

Featured Replies

Guys.... I am about to build my new system for FSX. I will be new to FSX and have seen lots of post about Nick and Bojote's recommendations.Question: Do I need to follow all those recommendations....if yes which one do I start with...Nick's or Bojote's (*******)?I want to make sure my experience with FSX is both good eye-candy and good performance, as well. Thanks,John

Well they post tweak recommendations not really system recommendations. So whats your budget etc...

You won't need any tweaking with that system. I suggest you install FSX and your favorite add ons and go to it :)

At least try it and see. I'm sure some people here will tell you that you will have terrible stutters and what not unless you start doing this tweak and that tweak. Personally I've found that 99% of it is not needed when you get into the higher end Core i7 systems with Nvidia cards.

Molleh: the only thing MS did wrong is not hide the config files in the registry... I think that gave people the idea they were tweakable in the first place when they're obviously not. I say this given the fact that no one seems to have any consistant results. The only thing that remotely makes a difference is the AA/AF settings. But then again that's a hardware thing and not a registry hack.

Absolutely not true. There is not a system made that will just plop FSX in and have it run correctly. Will it run? You bet. Will it run ok? Possibly, but if you're going to spend the $$, set it up to run properly.Use Nick's Guide to set up the OS and FSX and configure same. Then Apply and overclocking you might want to do.Then try Bojote's tweaks one at a time - keep the ones that help and dump the ones that don't.Vic

What you just said is "absolutely not true." My system is proof of it, and Johnny's specs will be far beyond mine yet.You don't need to follow any tweaking guides right off the bat for the OS if he uses Windows 7, it's a great OS and is nicely optimized from the get go.Again I say to you Johnny - just run the game and if you come across any problems, THEN go for broke in tweaking. But I doubt you'll have any problems, assuming your build goes smoothly. Good luck :D

I stand by my comment. I didn 't say it wouldn't run, I said it wouldn't run well. Your system may be acceptable BUT I'd bet that you'd be able to get better performance with some simple OS tweaks.I'll say it again - even with the NEWEST windows 7 system with an I7 and a 580 - you will need to set up the OS and FSX to get the BEST performance. The OS and hardware need to be tweaked. If you're happy with what you have, that's cool. If the OP is happy with his system right "out of the box" that's cool too but to get the best performance, meaning no stutters, no blurries, smooth high frames in dense areas, with sliders at or near max - you need to set up the system.Vic
