TrackIR5 + Win7 = StutterFest

Featured Replies

Any Win7 guru's out there to help diagnose an issue I'm having.Recently formatted my main hdd to install Win7 (which I thought would be an upgrade from vista lol)I'm receiving horrible stutters while using track ir 5. If I pause the camera the stutters are gone and I can pan with the joystick hat with no issues. But the second I turn TIR5 back on.... nastiness ensues...A few things, I run TIR5 minimized, and I lock FPS to 28 with the FSX slider.

Try a different driver and/or profile. The 'latest' driver for TIR5 didn't work for me, went back to 1.0.037 and all was well.Vic

I get the same unless I limit which core TrackIR runs on. With an affinity mask of 14 I set TrackIR to run on core0, and with an affinity mask of 12, TrackIR runs on core1. I set the core in task manager and I use the freeware program "Prio" to save the core setting.

Where do you find the drivers? On their site I see this (I'm using 5.0 final b, and I'm also using the clip pro):Version 5.0 - Final B(posted August 10, 2009)(.exe 6.7 MB)• Supports TrackIR 5, TrackIR 4:PRO• Note: TrackIR 3 with Vector support will be added in version 5.1Version 4.1.037 - Final B(posted July 24, 2009)(.exe 4.6 MB)• Supports TrackIR 5, TrackIR 4:PRO, TrackIR 3

I don't think this would work for me - I see you have a quad core CPU. Well I only have a lowly dual core...

Update (still unresolved):I loaded the 4.1.037 software and it's smooth now but the head tracking is all WHACKED. It's impossible to use.Does anyone have a profile for track clip and this version 4 software for FSX?EDIT!!!: Woot! I think I solved the problem with version 5 software!!When the program runs, it defaults to the view of the degrees with your head etc etc. In the upper right corner, select panel view (the left most icon) and it will get rid of all the head movement, and only show the image from the profile.I think having that head tracking part running in the background is screwing with something, video card driver-wise, and creating the stutters in FSX.Could someone test this and try it please!

The best FSX tweak tips ever by Orbx John Venema: http://orbxsystems.com/forums/index.php?topic=11307.0Running the latest Microsoft OS on such old hardware isn't a good system platform for FSX. Win XP would a better solution for your hardware. That's my 2 cents :Peace:

Thanks but no thanks... I've already read his money post...Not everyone can upgrade yearly... It worked fine with Vista x64 anyway... but I edited the post now and have found a solution.

I noticed the stuttering immediately with my TrackIR upon installing Win7 64bit. This is a known issue with the new OS. The solution is to put the AffinityMask=14 in your fsx.cfg, and the stutters go away.

Im running Win 7 64bit with Track IR Pro Ver 4.1 with no problems at all. Have you downloaded the Optimized Flight profile from the Track IR website?http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/04-community/profiles/v4/FS2004-Optimized_Flight.xmlRight Click save as, save to your profiles folder in the Track IR root directory.
