October 19, 200322 yr For those who are curious as to what a turbo prop airplane in FS can, and should! sound like need to try this package. Once again, Oleksiy shows us what can be. Yep, I got the payware one, and I am a little bit tired of the 'thats the way it sounds in real life' and 'limited by FS constraint' comments. NO, this is the way it is in real life and screw the FS constraints - this is how sounds for turbo props are done. Way to go Oleksiy Frolov and team. The package and especially the sounds are beyond excellent - they are unmatched and I suspect will be for a long long time. At least till his next offering :-)rant over CPU: Core i5-6600K 4 core (3.5GHz) - overclock to 4.3 | RAM: (1066 MHz) 16GB MOBO: ASUS Z170 Pro | GeForce GTX 1070 8GB | MONITOR: 2560 X 1440 2K
October 19, 200322 yr Hi Mike,Sounds cool, you raging fanatic you. Well, seeings how I'm a fanatic }( too I'll probably be buying this package, hehe.Jim
October 19, 200322 yr Well said Mike, couldn't have put it better myself.Jim: you don't have to buy it, it's freeware!
October 21, 200322 yr Although a jet man myself Mike I do like a change now and again and I do agree that the sounds of Oleksiy's props as they start to 'bite' are excellent.I downloaded this a/c when it was first released and welcome the FS9 update. My only quibble is, like others, the legibility of the panel text but understand the reasons.I do not have the 'other' payware Dash 8 as it is not an a/c I would fly regularly, but I am surprised its sound is not as good as Oleksiy's given the people that normal work on sound for that developer.
October 21, 200322 yr FS doesn't do turbo prop sounds very well. Oleksiy did something completely different with his sounds. I'm not sure how he did it, but the results are wonderful. As for the panel, it's really meant to be viewed at a resolution of 1200 x 1024 or higher. If you can swing it, the panel is much clearer at 1600 x 1200.
October 22, 200322 yr I have the problem of my cat walking on my keyboard, Oleksiy's turbo prop startup sound has solved it. :D
October 22, 200322 yr Agree, it is so good that I can't fly it without some of the realism issues arising... Alarms, pressurization, etc. GREAT JOB...Anybody have a good tutorial???Barry
October 22, 200322 yr I picked up the attached text by a Gord Noseworthy on a forum sometime ago and it answers the text problem in reading Frolov's panel.I concur with all the comments above, it is one of the best packeges around, thx again. And also thx to Gord for such a helpful modification."This is what I change in the panel.cfg file in order to make the panel more readable:In the section: Window01Change:window_size= 0.590, 0.440to:window_size= 0.80, 0.60Under Window02:Change:window_size= 0.140, 0.160window_pos= 0.010, 0.830To:window_size= 0.30, 0.340window_pos= 0.010, 0.60Under Window03:Change:window_size= 0.220, 0.280window_pos= 0.000, 0.720To:window_size= 0.40, 0.510window_pos= 0.000, 0.480Under Window04:Change:window_size= 0.470, 0.120window_pos= 0.540, 0.000To:window_size= 0.60, 0.150window_pos= 0.38, 0.000Under Window05:Change to:window_size= 0.450, 0.580window_pos= 0.54, 0.410And finally under Window07:Change:window_size= 0.370, 0.660window_pos= 0.630, 0.340To:window_size= 0.50, 0.90window_pos= 0.250, 0.08You can also change your screen resolution to 1280 x 1024 (I think?). This will also increase the font size and make the gauges more readable. However, your card and monitor must be able to support this. Hope this helps!Regards,Gord Noseworthy"NigelVancouver
October 22, 200322 yr So true, thanks to Gord Noseworthy for these numbers. If you haven't dl'd this fantastic plane, you're really missing out. Far and away the best sounds for ANY aircraft in MSFS, and quite possibly the best panel, PIC767 included.
