Denpasar (WADD) Airport

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,I finally found a decent Denpasar Airport from http://www.bdoaviation.com/beta/scenery.htmlEverything works well, however when I follow the instructions on placing the "AP978350.BGL" file which was contained was contained in the above scenery, to place that file in the FS9 Scenery Main Folder in Asia Folder, it prevents any AI Traffic from Landing or even being at Denpasar Airport, you can basically see the aircrafts in the air and on TCAS just hovering around, but not actually landing or even being on the Apron.I think what happens is that the AP978350.BGL changes the AFCAD name from WRRR(Former ICAO Code) to the new one WADD, because when I didn't first place the AP978350.BGL file in the Asia Scenery in FS main Folder, you had the traffic displayed but it was making the A/C Park nose right into the Terminal Building, I think for some reason the World of AI Traffic has F-Plans, but Denpasar Airport is coded as WRRR with regards to World of AI, hence when I place the new file that renames it WADD, as far as World of AI is concerned Denpasar Airport no longer exits.I have tried using T-Tools to compile Traffic again, but no joy.Would appreciate any helpThanking you in advance.

You would need to recompile the AI to go to the new code.

Someone else may have a better way but here's how I would go about it. I warn you though, if you have a lot of WOAI files with aircraft landing in Bali it's going to take some time. You are going to need Traffic Tools which you have.. What you are going to do is change all the entries in your traffic files so that the aircraft routed to WRRR get routed to WADD.1. Decompile one of the traffic files that contain aircraft that are routed to WRRR that you want to go to WADD. (I know it's the same airport, I'm just trying to keep it simple) :( Garuda would be an obvious first choice, or Singapore Airlines etc.You will have three documents - aircraft, airports and flight plans. What you are going to be doing is make sure that everything that says WRRR becomes WADD. I suggest you use the MS find and replace feature.2. Open the airport document - find WRRR and replace it with WADD. Save and close3. Open the flight plan document. Using find and replace, go through the entire document replacing all entries for WRRR with WADD. Save and close.4. Use TT to recompile.5. Make sure you've deleted any AF2 that is for WRRR and you have one for WADD. If your new scenery doesn't have a new AF2 for WADD you are going to have to create one, or figure out some way to change the name of WRRR for WADD in the file. You will need AFCAD or Flight One's excellent AFX program to do this. Just remember that if you have a WRRR AF2 file it will screw up your AI trafficFire up FS9 and go to WADD and see if it worked. If it did, then all you need to do is repeat this for every WOAI package that has aircraft flying to WRRR. I have 3Dragon's Kai Tak and I have to do this with every new package that might contain flights to Hong Kong, to ensure they go to VHHX instead of VHHHGood luckps. I have incredibly good memories of flying into WRRR as a professional pilot many years ago. It was always a rest stop so we got to stay in one of the beachfront hotels for a couple of days. Good memories!!! :(

If someone makes an AFCAD file for this I will certainly download it.

Kiwiflyer,Many many thanks for the detailed info, I will give that a go later today around luch time UK time (UTC) and report back either todayor later on tonight. Thanks

I decided to download the airport and consider making an AFX file for it. Unfortunately, it's a .rar and not a .zip file and I can't open those. Did it not come with an AF2 file at all? If it did, all you need to do is open it with AFCAD, click properties and you can change the airport designator to WADD. Then use "save as" and rename it AF2_WADD. Make sure you then delete the old AF2_WRRR file and you should be good to goIf there is no AF2 file with it and you're stuck with the default parking, I would be willing to make one with AFX but you'd have to send me the airport in .zip format so I could install it. And I would need some help to get info on gate names and which airlines use which gates or you'd have to put up with fictional gate assignments. But the layout would conform to the new scenery. If someone wants me to do this, send me a PM and I'll give you my email address so you can send the zip file.I can't imagine why an airport designer would go to all the trouble of making a scenery and not include an AF2 file but I have seen that from time to time. Strange... :(

Unfortunately, it's a .rar and not a .zip file and I can't open those.
There's a freeware program called 7 zip that will open .rar files for you. It's easy to use because I can use it :( http://www.7-zip.org/

Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)

Thanks! Very helpful... I installed it and it works fine. Thanks to Gavin I was able to open the scenery and install it. There is a valid AF2 file in there for WADD so it should work okay. It's pretty basic and maybe someone could tweak it and post on AVSIM
