November 23, 201015 yr I recently purchased a new new laptop with Windows 7 OS. I've been reading on Google that some folks have had issues running FS2004 after installing it on a Windows 7 machine. Have any of you had a problem with this OS and FS2004, and if you did what was done to correct it? I haven't installed the sim yet and if it appears that this going to be a can of worms I'll just stick with my desk top and Windows XP. Tom
November 23, 201015 yr I have had absolutely NO problems with FS2004 and windows 7. I keep reading that it is better to install out of the Program files. I did not and still had no real issues. There are security issues. You need to disable the user account control or run as an administrator. Windows 7 has proven to be very stable on my machine. There have been a number of threads on this and you might go to the Windows dedicated forum here at Avsim.

November 25, 201015 yr Do what i did...reinstall it on another drive if you have 2 drives, DO NOT install on the Operating System's drive or more specifically - DO NOT install in the default location that FS9 choses on installation. Just to be safe, install in another location.Correct me if i'm wrong on this, i have heard that installing on separate drives or another location is better...
November 25, 201015 yr I do not install anything in the Programe Files folder with W7. It is really finicky about access to that folder. For games I made a C:\GAMES folder and everything goes in there.... Al Stiff
