My new Toy brings me joy and some head-aches

Featured Replies

Gentlemen, I was very excited last night as I managed to OC my new toy to 4.0 Ghz, and I 've been doing some flying during the day and though the performace in general is not bad, I do have some obstcles and questions.(1) BELOW is my CFG. File I copied from my computer By going to (Run...%APPDATA%\Microsoft Games\FSX...open the FSX folder , then open AND COPIED THE CFG File). But where is the "Affinity Mask" and the "Bufferpool" everyone's talking about? Check my CFG File please and see what's missing or incorrect...Or does someone has a CFG file that's as good as it get's to share with me?--- I ran the Auto Insaller that Bojote" (*******) has on his signiture but when I checked for that folder or file in my computer, is not there, I only see mine.. :( (2)Should I install Direct X 9 or 10 on my computer ? (Should I check the Direc X box within the FSX application?)(3) Should I be using the latest Nvidia Card Drivers for my 580, or is there a specific driver that's best for FSX?(4) I keep getting an error on FSX--at any given moment that reads: "A fatal error has occured, Windows will try to find a solution." And FSX shots down then it restarts.. (All day and it hasn't provided me a solution.)(5)For Christ's sake, how do you turn off that "stup" Security Warning on FSX asking you if you trust the software you are about to run (This happens whenever I select an airplane to fly. :( (6) There are several large spiral graphics that show as a "spiral" from the clouds to the groundd on some areas whenver I fly. (sort-of-like banding)(7) And, here's a big question: Do I use the the Graphic Card's control pannel to set-up Anti-Asialing, clamp this, clamp that...etc..etc..? Or should I only use Nvidia Inspector...Can someone please guide me how to use Nvidia Inspector to make it work on FSX...Also, what should I check or un-check on the FSX settings? ...like Biliear, Trileaner...etc ?(8) And one last question (pardon my ignorance, I'm new to this thing.... I'm kinda virgin.......hummm, no...not like that :( I mean I'm new to this but if I learn I'm willing to loose my vir--tual skies....jejeje... Sorry, I love to have fun even if my hair is turning white with this dammnn FSX (I'm going shoot this thing !!!....Ok I won't...just please help me with my questions>> I will certainly appreciate you, guys. Try adding this to your cfg file:[JOBSCHEDULER]AffinityMask=14[bufferPools]UsePools=1 // Setting this to 1 will turn the BufferPools ON (stability), setting it to 0 disables them (Performance).RejectThreshold=98304PoolSize=8388608 // Defines an 8MB BufferPoolAlso, in FSX set Filtering to trilinearIn the nvidia applet (Inspector) set antialias to 8XS, filtering to anisotropic and high quality.Read NickN's notes on system setup for details. The "trusted questions" will go away as you keep saying yes and yes.

The spiral banding is the graphic dispay of thermals and can be disabled in the serup.Sounds to me that you are running windows 7, and its not allowing you fsx.cfg to be updated, when a new aircraft is installed , fsx asks if you would like certaing gauges etc to work, a kind of security function, it only does it once , if it keeps doing it then you have a windoes wecurity issue. There is a windows 7 setup guide on another froum somewhere, but you may read this regards the crashhttp://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=249211&st=25 Cheers

And, I found out NHancer is no longer to be used, will not work with new drivers.... I have pretty much follow all of Nicks steps ins seting up the FSX on my computer.... However, I'm wondering how much of that information actually works....it's a whole bunch of changes..Wow, who would have thought FSX was this much of a promblem ! Terrible isn't it ?"
Wow, who would have thought FSX was this much of a promblem ! Terrible isn't it ?"
Well, it is much more fun to fly that to adjust settings and try tweaks... :( But I've found thata) FSX flies pretty nicely "right out of the box". If in doubt, rename fsx.cfg and let FSX rebuild it for youandB) NickN and Bojote between them have given us lots of really good examples to follow - for an even better experience

Bert

Yep, lots of home work to do...If Micrsoft should have built this thing a bit easier from the begining , we would be going through all this trouble.''--- Somethng eslse I have noticed is everytime I shut down and restart FSX, I have to go in an manually apply every settings, again, even my Yoke and pedal settings change...is there a way for FSX to stay with the settings I apply?John

Use this, dont use the Nvidia Panel. Inspector also offers more modi for Antialiasing etc. There are guides out in this forum explaining how to use NV Inspector IN DETAIL...please search the forum for Nick's guide. Cannot get any more detailed than that.
