According to Wilcopub they will be releasing information soon about an "upgrade" to there current airbus line. I've searched and I've found nothing or the sorts, anyone else heard anything about this?Ron Hamilton

It was mentioned a while ago that they'd soup up the 737 and the Airbus packages, and in an announcement made in July of this year, which Avsim put on the news page, Wilco did say that it would be for (almost) their entire Airbus range (i.e. both Vol 1 and 2 but not the A380). Things have been pretty quiet on that score since, but one presumes it is still in the pipeline. As it stands, the Wilco Airbus is probably the most realistic one you can get for FS even though the models leave a bit to be desired proportions-wise, so one would hope they'll fill in the avionics gaps and not just tidy the graphics up a bit, which it seems is going to be the case. To quote the announcement:'this pack will include stunning new features as well as improved existing systems. This improvement pack will be available separately for the different Airbus Series versions'Some of it was probably motivated by the fact that Airsimmer has run into a bit of an impasse and Airbus X (or whatever it was called) seems to have vanished without trace and aerosoft's A320 was a 'lite' version, leaving the Wilco version still wearing the (albeit slightly lopsided) crown despite its age.Al

I'm holding out for the flightsimlabs versions. If the Concorde X is anything to go by then we should be in for a treat.

I hope for them to come up with this. There were some news around that external devs were collected to work on this.I'm still running the Wilcos together with the MCDU extension if I go Airbus while the Aerosoft approach was a big surprise for me, sadly a not so good one. "Lite" was interpreted as "wrong", strange thing in my eyes.I also hope for Flight Sim Labs to get things going. Their forums is really quiet on this, some FCOM discussions here and there but nothing even close to the attention of a future Boeing release from another dev (which is somehow sympathetic). The other products currently available are too lite for me although I applaud to their price point and value.Seems like you are a fan of them, Alan. Really like your reports about this stuff. So while Wilco said some things in June and stood silent until now, they are either very busy or very distracted. Lets hope for the best.We should be aware that the A330/340 market with at least some details will get covered by Wilco only for some further years to come. No announcement made from other devs, the maximum from FSL is a vague "maybe" and "lets see".

PSS set the road and did "not bad" considering how long ago they did...got to appluad that. Then came others but all failed except for a more acceptable approach by Wilco.---- Today, none of the "big guys" have attempted; don't know why...I guess Airbus must be far more complex than a Boeing...just my guess; I don't work for Boeing or Airbus.Any ways hope Wilco get's better.John

I think its the FBW systems that is the deal breaker when it comes to FSX. Seems pretty hard to model. Airsimmer has the best FBW, well atleast it did when us extended team members were receiving updates of any kind!!

I suspect it's more a case of the MCDU logic and the flight envelope protection modeling that's the tricky part, after all, FBW itself is just an electronic version of the old cable and pulley system, and if anything FS being digital itself, is going to emulate FBW impulses in pretty much exactly the same way.Al

I think you'll see more than just graphics updates. I have been told by a pretty good source that Eric Marciano is working on this update with Wilco. For those that don't know who he is, he was the one that developed the MCDU logic and gauges when the product was first created. He's also the one that created an MCDU update pack which makes the Wilco Bus much better. Unfortunately (and I think Wilco is realizing it's mistake) Wilco got impatient and decided to release the bus "As Is" leaving unfinished work on Eric's side. I think you'll see a very different and much more realistic bus when this upgrade comes out.Jeremy
