December 3, 201015 yr HiSeems like great new freeware scenery for Paphos Airport, but when I installed it and tried to move the aircraft to Paphos, FS9 kept freezing at 12% of the loading stage. The same thing happened when I tried to move to Larnaca or start FS9 at either of these two airports. I also have the Toni Agramont Cyprus scenery enhancement installed, so I moved this out of FS9 in case there was a conflict but even doing this FS9 continued to freeze at 12% when I tried to open any Cyprus airport. I have now uninstalled the new Paphos scenery and reinstalled the Agramont scenery and everything is ok again! Does anyone know if there really is a conflict between the two or might the problem lie with the new Paphos Airport scenery?Bill Windows XP Pro SP2; Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3.0Ghz CPU; Arctic Cool 7Pro; ASUS P5N-E-SLI Motherboard; 4GB Corsair 800Mhz DDR2 RAM; 768MB nVidia GeForce 8800GTX Dual VGA Graphics card; 2x 500GB SATA 7200RPM Hard Drive; 650W (2 x 12V) PSU; 2 x 1000GB + 1 x 150GB Western Digital External Hard Drive; CH Pro Yoke and PedalsPowering 281GB of fs9!
December 3, 201015 yr Hmm, no conflict, I just removed the paphos.bgl from Toni's scenery folder. All went well.
December 4, 201015 yr Hi Guys,I've had the same problem at any of my addon Western European airport for years in my FS9 and have kind of got used to it by now. It's an intermittend problem and after one or more FS9 shutdowns and re-starts, with the same flight at such an airport, the flight will (or should) start up normally. Please try this and report back. In the meantime I will de-activate all Tony Agramont's VFR airports in my Western Europe region to try out your theories. I will report back any findings also but because it's an intermittend problem this may take some time.Hans

I also tried it after removal of the PaphosPort.bgl and AIRP-CYP.bgl from Toni's folder but it still made no difference - continued to freeze at 12%. So it remains a mystery!Bill

In my case it was a persistent and not intermittent problem, always freezing at the same point during loading. In saying that however, I have had to remove Tony's Spain scenery as it was conflicting with other addons and also his Cuba scenery for the same reason.Bill
December 4, 201015 yr I don't think there's a problem with my scenery, but FS9 is a funny animal so you never can tell. Sometimes one scenery just doesn't want to play nice with another.I recommend try a systematic study of all the active third party files as you have mentioned and see if you can isolate a particular bgl. December 11, 201015 yr Bill,I de-actvated all Tony Aggramont's (high fly over) VFR sceneries in my whole FS9 to see if that would have any effect on my intermittend startup bug but alas, it persists at all my West European airports only.....and....it remains an intermittent problem with hangs at between 9 and 12% during the "loading terrain" process. I also installed the Paphos scenery but had, at an ealier date, deleted Tony Aggramont's Cyprus scenery but only because some of his villages were positioned in the water along the coasts. However, I've had no problems with Paphos, most probably because it's grouped in the standard FS9 ASIA scenery folder (AP956190.bgl) and not in the EURW one, where my bug seems to live.In Cuba, Spain and some others, I've only deleted all Tony's very basic VFR airport sceneries, especially those for which I had separate addon versions. Why ? Because this was only one of my ongoing efforts at killing my bug.Did totally removing Tony's Spain scenery actually solve your startup hang problem at Shannon ? I've now de-activated only Tony's Spain scenery again and am waiting for my bug to reappear by (test) opening flights all over Europe.RegardsHans
April 9, 201115 yr Author Hi again!Out of frustration, I am resurrecting this old thread which I initiated a few months ago, as I have just purchased the new Aerosoft Larnaca addon for fs9, having forgotten the problem that seems to exist with this part of my fs9 world - namely that fs9 freezes at 12% ("loading terrain") during loading when I try to go to any airport in Cyprus - it still does and I have no idea why! Have tried deleting / deactivating varioous files which I though might be implicated but to no avail. Once again any help would be very much appreciated appreciated, as the same problem recurs when I try to open any airport on the island of Cyprus.Thank you,Bill
April 9, 201115 yr I have never had a problems with any of Toni Agramont`s excellent scenery. It is amazing how a single bgl can cause problems.I first noticed a problem over the Pyrenees where I test any new Airbus aircraft downloads. I found that aircaft were tracking 70 degrees north of heading. Moved area within France..no change tried over UK and Spain..problem persisted. Then I tried a few locations in America..no problems. It took a long time to isolate the problem, using Opa`s well tried method (which I used before I`d ever heard of Opa...seems obvious really) Sorry Opa I do appreciate what you have done for us Simmers.I finally tracked down the culprit to iah_west_jw.bgl which was part of a Houston download. Not exactly what you would expect is it ? Dave :(

Opa always gives very sound advice but I have been hoping to avoid the hassle of following it in this case if I could find a quick solution!Bill
