December 7, 201015 yr Hi all,I remind people that have real FCOM or FCTM manuals printed by companies or simply bought on the web.I'm very intrested in buying a real MD-11 FCOM, in legally way of course, but i can't find it anywhere. Can someone give me an advice??Thank you very much Paolo Fumagalli "Everyday is a new flight, with new system to learn, new failures to prevent and new database to update..."
December 7, 201015 yr Commercial Member :( Stalk someone as they leave FDX and ask for an old version :ph34r:In all seriousness, the manuals by PMDG are licensed, so they're legit. If you want one that's been in an aircraft, ordering one through PMDG will likely have been on one in transit. If you want one from an airline, Craigslist or eBay might be an option. Kyle Rodgers
December 8, 201015 yr Author So, after having realized that find out a real FCOM in near to impossible....i'm thinking to buy the Captain Set sell by PMDG...Maybe this will be the last stupid question (i hope )...are the PMDG Manuals good enough to be considered a "mirror" of the real thing? Thanks for your attention...and patience...Cheers Paolo Fumagalli "Everyday is a new flight, with new system to learn, new failures to prevent and new database to update..."
December 8, 201015 yr Commercial Member They were produced under license from Boeing (current owner of MD intellectual property), so I imagine they're pretty detailed. At the moment, I'd rather burn $150 on flight time, but I definitely plan on buying the sets available when I dig myself out of the old college debt, or around bonus time, or refund time, or whenever...who knows? As far as I can see, though, they're worth it. December 9, 201015 yr Commercial Member ...are the PMDG Manuals good enough to be considered a "mirror" of the real thing? Those actually ARE the real manuals, produced under license from Boeing, missing of course the pages that Boeing did not give permission to publish, the performance pages.Cheers,Markus Markus Burkhard
December 9, 201015 yr Author You are right!I misunderstood before, but reading the manuals description in the PMDG site make everything very clear. It is just the things i'm searching for, so i finally find my Christmas present....Thank you PMDG... I found a bunch of stuff missing from the real FCOM eg ACARS. It would be nice if you kept that stuff as it's still interesting to read. Rob Prest

(It's in their name).Wonder if any extra info would serve the FS community.Regards,Harry

Was just curious as to why these are left out of the docs, I guess some people will start asking why they cant use the fire axe in FS :) Rob Prest
December 10, 201015 yr Flight manuals are written to be tailored to a specific airlines tastes. While one airline's manuals may have a lot of info in one manual, that same information can be found in a separate manual or appendix of anothers. That being said, it would be by guess that PMDG didnt have that specific information available to them, or they just chose not to include it. By the way, FCOM is an Airbus term. Allan Burek
December 10, 201015 yr Author Yes, i saw a lot of real world manuals, thanks to the people at the nearest "aeroclub"...They come with different assets of chapters and informations.BTW, i think that FCOM is also used by Boeing, i remember a RYR with the front page saying "Flight Crew Operating Manual" (FCOM), and also PMDG says "FCOM" in the newly released manuals packs. (I have placed right today the order for the MD11 manuals, just as a Christmas present...)Cheers Paolo Fumagalli "Everyday is a new flight, with new system to learn, new failures to prevent and new database to update..."
