December 7, 201015 yr Hi guys,Preamble: I'm a RW student pilot and going for my tests really soon, weather and instructor permitting ;) While I've been using FSX with TileProxy for VFR practice, obviously, the default gauges leave a lot to be desired and I've been relying on X-Plane when I need my "smooth gauge" fix.Anyway, I primarily use two commercial add-on aircraft - a Diamond DA-20 and a Piper Warrior to most closely replicate what I actually fly. But as noted the gauges are rough.I'd like to know if the Reality XP N and T gauges work well and can easily be installed? I don't mind if I have to use the default 172 if they work better with that, but I'd prefer to add them into my add-on aircraft. I don't care if the gauges look -exactly- like the ones I have in the RW aircraft, so long as the arcs can be set on airspeed. (I think I read the arcs can indeed be set.)Also, for those of you who have used them - how do you like them? Pretty big investment relatively! I assume going with both sets is what I'll be doing.Cheers,Andrew H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g

They give smooth response and thus can be used for ifr practice, can be highly customized, and are easily installed-I would suggest using FS Panel studio to get things customized just as you need them. You are correct about relatively-but if it will save you time in your rw training getting the sim more customized and realistically running I think you will find you will save money in the end run. December 7, 201015 yr Author Hi Geof,And thanks for the quick reply. The Reality XP site says: "Flightline N™ offers a higher level of accuracy, smoothness and precision than the Microsoft Flight Simulator SDK or 3D modeled gauges, while allowing the gauge to be rendered in the Virtual Cockpit, the 2D panel, a popup window or a second monitor." I'm assuming this is the same for the T series and that they work within the VCs.I primarily fly using the VCs due to all the ground reference while using TileProxy, but I noted that FS Panel Studio may be 2d cockpit only? Not sure how these work/don't work together. Oh, about "relativity" - I paid $37 for FSX.. N/T gauge set w/my (current) RXP 430 is around $110!!! :) :) I guess it doesn't just simulate the -flight- portion of flying!! lolthanks again,Andrew H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g

The Carenado planes allow relative easy placement even in the 3d cockpits-some others don't. Here is my favorite panel using all RXP gauges and it is 3d. December 11, 201015 yr Author Hi guys - Been looking around, but I can't find a tutorial on adding the Reality XP gauges (GNS430, Flightline N/T) to a VC - can anyone point me in the right direction?thxAndrew H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g
December 11, 201015 yr If you are using FS Panel Studio, the quick way to replace a gauge is; click on it, then right click on it, swap. That will not alter the position or size of the gauge which is very important if the modeler used individual surfaces on multiple geometric planes for each of the gauges. You may notice in FSPS, when you open a VCockpitXX window, it looks like the gauges are all crammed together. The modeler probably multi-surfaced the VC. If the gauges are spread out in a more normal manner, the surface may be larger and continuous and you might be able to adjust position and size. The only way is trial and error when you go beyond simply swapping them...Don
December 15, 201015 yr Author Thanks Don.FWIW, I've tried contacting them (Reality XP) twice now to see if they can share their installation guide, but unfortunately have had zero response... which doesn't exactly give me a warm fuzzy feeling about what might happen if I need support...Andrew H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g
