My new PC

Hi everybody. I need some advices for the upgrade I’m about to make for my computer. I just bought a new power supply Thermaltake 600W yesterday and I’m wondering if that’s going to be enough for my upgrades. I already have the Nividia GTS 250 1Gb DDR3 graphics card and want to keep it for a bit. But are these upgrades going to help increase my FSX performance very much? Or do you have some suggestions? Overclocking? By the way my budget is very low and I don’t know much about self building a computer. Buying: ASUS P7P55D-E Pro - LGA 1156 - Intel P55 - DDR3 - USB 3.0 SATA 6Gb/s - ATX Motherboard Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz 8M L3 Cache LGA1366 Desktop Processor
VERY IMPORTANT!The i7 950 is a Socket 1366 CPU. The ASUS board you've selected is a socket 1156. If you want the i7 950, then you'll need to get a motherboard that is the correct socket type.

You will see an absolutely massive improvement going from a dual-core Core 2 to a quad i7 overclocked.I'd get something better than the Hyper 212+ though - it's good for moderate OCing but the temps get too high on mine for sustained load at anything about about 3.8 or so. Look into the Prolimatech Megahalems, that's generally the best air cooler on the market. Something like the Corsair H70 water kit would work too.
From my experience the Hyper is an amazing cooler for it's price and competes with the top dogs. On a average day I get 34 C idle temp. And using prime95 63 C being the max on CORE 1. It's so cheap here in AUS I assume it would in other places too. I used artic silver 5 and set manual voltages etc to achieve this. Although automatic settings are should be avoided anyway because that can eat up ya CPU.

I've never been able to get the temps others report with it - I've reseated the heatsink a ton of times, read articles on how to best apply the thermal paste to a heatpipe direct touch cooler like this (using AS5 right now as well) and nothing worked. I have to turn Hyperthreading off to get anywhere near 4GHz, and even then it's still hotter than I'd like.

Hello. I'm back with some stuff I already bought for my computer:Gigabyte X58A-UD3R Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB Modules DDR3) for intel Core i7Corsair H70 Hydro Series (High performance cpu cooler)Rocketfish PSU RF-900WPS (Don't know if that is good though?)And buying very soon:Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor BX80601950 COOLER MASTER Storm Sniper SGC-6000-KXN1-GP Black Steel, ABS Plastic, Mesh bezel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case I thought it wouldn't be that hard to choose a computer case but I'm not sure if that is the best? in the range of $100 to $150 that I can afford right now. Some advises for a case?I'm still gonna use my 750Gb hdd and dvd RW+Nvidia GTS250 1gb GPU (I know it's not good but I'll be looking forward to get a GTX570 maybe)

Hi S. Tource,If you still have some budget left, its really a good idea to get yourself a SSD (solid state disk) to install FSX onto. This will increase your performance quite a bit.

Hi. I just knew about them some times ago. But they are not cheap! I hope I can get one too within a month. 64GB would be enough for me.
