Flight1 Pilatus PC-12 gps bug

Featured Replies

When I activate an approach on the default GPS in the amazing and underrated PC-12, the entire route track disappears from the airplane's navigation display. Is there any way to fix this? Did they ever release a patch I don't see one anywhere.Just a small little quirk in the almost perfect PC-12. I hope they do an update with more system modeling.

When you activate the approach on ANY GPS the previous route data disappears...When you LOAD the approach, the current route data will remain displayed and active...

But shouldn't the approach route appear on the ND? That's what it does in an airplane with an FMC. This one the route line disappears completely and it's just you and the airport on the ND

I don't own that specific a/c, but if they are obtaining the data for the ND from the fs9gps.dll (the default GPS system module), then it will only display what the GPS system offers. Very few gauge programmers take the time to custom build a separate system, as it is extremely code heavy, not to mention complex.

I dont have that plane, but if its using the FSX GPS, when you activate the approach, you should see only a magenta line extending from the FAF. Thats the line to intercept. If you activate 'vectors to final' and are in GPS nav mode, the AP will intercept to the FAF not the IAF. In order to get an approach FAF fix you need to select a 'transition' if one is available. In th US I use the approach plates from airnav.com, select the runway and approach, then select a transition in the GPS that matches the plate. I generally go to 'heading' mode on the AP when 30-50 miles from the approach and vector myself to a workable intercept angle, then activate the approach when a mile or two from the extended center line on the GPS.

Unfortunately all lines on the navigation display disappear, even though the proper track updates and displays fine on the gps unit itself.

Sorry, thought you meant the GPS display

I fly the F1 PC12 fairly frequently what Navigation display are you talking about, bearing in mind that there are 2 GPS diaplays active in the PC12 both based on the FS9 GPS engine BTW?

If you are referring to the MX200 display when you refer to a "Navigation display" then you are really talking about a fancy GPS with a terrain display feature. The MX200 manual provided with the PC-12 should provide the answer to your question but read it carefully as all the flight conditions are described in it. I have never used the MX200 because it is a frame rate hog but it looks like it behaves like a standard GPS and like a GPS when you select an approach in this instrument it goes into VTF (vectors-to-final) mode just like the standard GPS does.
