Strange airport weather reports

Featured Replies

Hi,I applied ASE SP2 when it was released a couple of weeks back. Ever since then I have found that the ATIS reports for destination airports is incorrect. For example today when arriving at EGKK I called for ATIS during the descent the weather was reported as 280/26 SCT 4600 temps -49 and pressure 994. I immediately checked the weather in ASE and it showed as 080/3 SCT2300 temps -3 and pressure 994. This was about 60 miles out from the airfield. I am using RC4 and have got DWC switched on. FSUIPC weather settings is off. Any ideas?ThanksJonathan

Open your FSUIPC.ini file in Notepad, and add the option UseASEweather=Yes under the [general] section. It's my understanding that this may help to insure that RC4 will receive and use the actual surface weather for your destination. I don't use RC4, so I can't verify that for sure. You will need a version of FSUIPC later than the default 4.60. You can download the latest beta FSUIPC by going to http://forum.simflight.com/forum/142-download-links/, and click on the "updated modules" topic.Note that you must have FSUIPC 4.60 installed first, before updating with the latest DLL available from the above link. Hi,Thanks for this. I tried this and it hasn't stopped the incorrect weather reports. Note FSUIPC has weather settings off and I have DWC on in ASE.Maybe someone from Hifi can help please?Jonathan

Hi,What is the actual version number of your FSUIPC?Did you change the one line in the FSUIPC.ini?

Hi Hope you don't mind me butting in Jim, After following Jim's instructions Jonathan, make sure "Force Destination Weather Zone" is ticked. RC4 needs this to be on. Also read this thread, you might find it helpful setting up ASE and DWC and using RC4 http://forum.avsim.n...ended-settings/CheersJulian

Jim - FSUIPC version is 4.645. Yes I did add the one line to the FSUIPC ini file.Julian - I also switched "Force Destination Weather Zone" on in ASE.Today when approaching ENGM I again received a weather report that was not correct. ASE showed weather of 190/18 -25c and 1022. RC4 ATIS reported winds of 255/26 and a temp of -49c. The pressure was correct though! I asked for ATIS 3 times during the descent - each time it changed but it did seem to get "more correct" the closer I got to the airport. Jonathan

Just to add a bit more information. Approaching EGLL today the following weather reports were given to me:- about 70 miles out: winds 110/24 OVC400 temps -24 1029- about 40 miles out: winds 265/36 OVC400 temps -47 1029- actual weather as shown in ASE when on the ground: winds 300/5 OVC400 temps -2 1019I can understand that pressure and winds MAY vary a bit in the space of a few miles, but these changes are not right. Also the temperatures do not seem right to me. It is never that cold at Heathrow!Jonathan

No they are not correct. It is not -47 or -26.

Hi,DWC mode with FSX ATIS will always be wrong. It is with RC that we fixed in SP2. If you want FSX ATIS correct, you must use a different depiction mode in ASE.

Jim,This has gotten all confused somehow. :( My problem IS with RC4, not FSX ATIS. Just to restate the issue - when using RC4 with ASE SP2, DWC on, FSUIPC weather settings off, UseASEweather=Yes I get the following problem. The weather reports, via RC4 ATIS, are showing incorrect data, as per example here for Heathrow - about 70 miles out (20 mins from landing): winds 110/24 OVC400 temps -24 1029. About 40 miles out (10 mins from landing): winds 265/36 OVC400 temps -47 1029. Actual weather as shown in ASE when on the ground: winds 300/5 OVC400 temps -2 1019. So the winds changed from 110/24 to 265/36 to 300/5 and the temps changed from -24 to -47 to -2. I know that wind and temperature shifts like this is not realistic. It's almost as if it is reporting the weather aloft or something. By the way it does this for every airport I fly into, it is not localised to Heathrow. So far I have seen the issue at EGLL, ENGM, KLAS and EGKK. I would really like to know why the weather keeps varying so much and what I need to do to fix it. By way of reference, it NEVER did this prior to SP2. I only do airliner flying and DWC is what is recommended in the ASE manual. I hope that all makes sense. Jonathan

Hi,OK a few suggestions:1. RC and ASE never worked properly. That is why for SP2 we worked with Pete to make some changes.2. You need to update your FSUIPC from Pete's forum, not the Web page.3. You need to change that one line as you have. Now RC should report the correct destination conditions and not those at your current location and altitude.

Jim The version of FSUIPC on Pete's forum is the version I am using. 4.645.Please could you be a bit more specific for number 3 above. I have set it to UseASEweather=Yes. Is that correct?ThanksJonathan

Hi,That FSUIPC line.Here is the full post:http://forum.avsim.net/topic/318615-attention-ase-fsx-users/

Still having problems with this. ASE & RC are not playing nicely together. RC4 is still reporting conditions aloft and not the destination weather.
