December 20, 201015 yr After running RC4.3 for many months, in the same configuration, without any problem, I now get this message everytime I start RC (after loading a plan). I have tried with various flightplans known to have worked OK in the past:Runtime error '0' RadarContact.fsuipc.rcv4codeMy sim is then immediately repositioned to Lat/Long 0/0.I have not (knowingly) changed anything in my set-up that is obviously related to this issue. Config: FS2004, RC4.3, Windows XP, WideFS and FSUIPC current versionsDoes this mean anything to anybody?ThanksPhil
December 20, 201015 yr Have you added any add-ons recently? Is RC on the client PC?Sometimes the error shows up if you press the start button and FS is not running but you state it moved the aircraft to coordinates 0/0. I think you might want to rebuild the scenery database from within RC so a new r4.csv and a4.csv is built in the RC data folder to insure coordinates in the data are OK. Be sure to install the latest makerwys 4.43 in your FS folder and make sure the path to FS is correct for your machine.http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66136-useful-additional-programs-19th-december-2010/You also may want to update FSUIPC3. For FS9 first install 3.98 if you never did followed by FSUIPC interim update 3.989t. Both links are on this page:http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66139-updated-modules-19th-december-2010/After running the scenery database rebuild go into your RC4\data folder and check the properties for r4.csv and a4.csv to look at the new modified date attribute to see if everything copied and processed correctly. Also update the modules for WideFS as needed. It also can't hurt to check your registry FS path with this free tool:FSX/FS9 Registry Repair Tool (36KB)http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=librarysince for installation FSUIPC looks at the registry first. Finally in the r4.csv and a4.csv make sure the airport and runway coordinates look OK compared to the coordinates in your .pln file such as the.pln lines:[flightplan].......departure_id=KMSP, N44* 52.55', W093* 13.18',+000841.00........destination_id=KMDW, N41* 47.09', W087* 45.08',+000620.00.........waypoint.0=KMSP, A, N44* 52.55', W093* 13.18', +000000.00, ..........waypoint.9=KMDW, A, N41* 47.09', W087* 45.08', +000000.00,In a4.csv for KMSP the line is (open with notepad or wordpad and do not save these - it can corrupt):KMSP, , 44.88177 ,-93.22242 ,-2.3 , 841 , 11699to convert the a4 coordinates roughly multiply the decimal time 60 to get the minutes so in the example .882 x 60 = 52.92 minutes and .92 x 60 = 55.20. For longitude .222 x 60 = 13.32 and .32 x 60 = 19.2, close enough. The check the runway coordinates for close proximity in r4.csv (again reading with notepad but not saving):In the r4.csv runway database here are the lines:KMSP,0040,44.870926,-93.240189,841,42.650,11699,109.30G,150,2.300,44.882282,-93.224190,2250,CT,CLKMSP,0121,44.892944,-93.221008,841,119.080,8189,110.70DG,150,2.300,44.887096,-93.207474,0,,KMSP,0122,44.888786,-93.236450,841,119.090,10700,110.30DG,200,2.300,44.881142,-93.218773,700,,KMSP,0170,44.887112,-93.241776,841,168.000,7800,0,160,2.300,44.876568,-93.239235,0,,CLKMSP,0220,44.893639,-93.208191,841,222.650,11699,110.50G,150,2.300,44.882282,-93.224190,988,CT,CLKMSP,0301,44.873497,-93.201096,841,299.090,10700,110.30DG,200,2.300,44.881142,-93.218773,0,,KMSP,0302,44.881248,-93.193939,841,299.080,8189,110.70BDG,150,2.300,44.887096,-93.207474,0,,KMSP,0350,44.866024,-93.236694,841,348.000,7800,110.95DG,160,2.300,44.876568,-93.239235,0,CT,Drop the first character in the runway number in the second field. The last character indicates nothing, left, right, or center. In your FS folder there is a file called MakeRwys ReadMe.txt that will describe the fields in this file. You'll see they are close to the a4 coordinates. If these are OK and match your flightplan coordinates then as instructed near the forum top start a log (as soon as you open RC then quit RC on the error), zip it up and send it attached to an e-mail in with a description of your problem and a paste of your .pln file to jd.You can also compare the r5.csv file in your FS folder with the r4.csv file in your rc4\data folder. It will be nearly the same. The modification date should be the same as yoour scenery rebuild date.
December 20, 201015 yr Author Ron,Many thanks for your prompt and detailed reply. I'll follow your tips very systematically tomorrow.I forgot to mention that I had rerun makerwys, but I now realize I had done that on the FS PC only, not from RC in the client. Also, I notice a mistype in my original post. It is error '9', not '0'.Cheers,Phil
December 20, 201015 yr From the manual corrected:-------------------------NOTE: If you are running RC on a WideFS configured machine, please read: The file Makerwys.exe should be located in the main Flight Simulator folder. Run it and it creates a file r5.csv in the main Flight Simulator folder that contains the runway information which RC needs for all the active sceneries in your scenery.cfg file. Now run RC on the WideFS machine. On the RC main screen click the „Rebuild Scenery DB‟ button and answer „yes‟ when asked „Is this a WideFS configuration‟. You will be reminded to run makerwys.exe on the FS machine. If you have done so click OK. At the next screen, enter the network path to your main Flight Simulator folder. RC will now copy the r5.csv file from your Flight Simulator folder into the RCv4\data folder as r4.csv and will then rebuild the airport database (a4.csv). You will receive several messages telling you what is happening. Keep clicking OK until the process is completed.------------------------Be sure the FS folder on the host is shared with the client.

December 28, 201015 yr Author a run time error 9 is a subscript out of range. have you modified any files in the \data directory of rc?make a log, duplicate the problem, and send me the log, zipped upjdAs I had suspected, it turns out being a stupid mistake on my part. Somehow, when I updated my Flight Sim Commander to v9, the path to the flight plan files defaulted to the FSC folder instead of the RC folder. RC found there a plan with the correct name and extension and used it although its data format was incompatible. Only after applying all of Ronzie's suggestions (a very useful exercise anyway) did I realise that the cruise level was 0 ft, and then that there was no waypoint at all! I really should have noticed that earlier...Suggestion for v5: if the loaded plan is not recognisable, could we get an error message immediately? As it stands, you have to start RC to find out the hard way. Thanks for your help and my very best wishes for the Year of v5 - I mean for 2011!Cheers.Phil
December 29, 201015 yr RC5 has a new GUI. If you load an compatible plan if it doesn't crash RC you'll know it :)
