FS9 and FSX installed on the same hard drive, any conflicts?

no ... i have had FSX and FS9 on the same HD for many many years.you can get a reg entery issue that can cause difficulty for some addons to install (no game function problem). the reg entry can be fixed using this nice and free utility from flight1 : FSX/FS9 Registry Repair Tool. flight1's download library -http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library--

I have FSX, FS9 and CFS3 all in the same MS folder on the same hard drive with no problems.Your system is not going to run FSX at a blistering pace with all the sliders on the right, but with a few detail slider compromises it will certainly run it well enough to have some fun.Al
